Role Overview – Area Sales Manager

Our client, a well-established and growing specialist provider of steam and process control solutions, is seeking an Area Sales Manager to drive growth across the South/Southwest of England.

This is a field-based role managing an established territory, developing existing accounts, and identifying new business opportunities across a wide range of industrial sectors. You’ll play a key role in delivering sustained growth while building strong, long-term customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities – Area Sales Manager

  • Manage and develop relationships with existing key accounts
  • Identify and maximise upselling and cross-selling opportunities
  • Generate and convert new business opportunities across the territory
  • Develop and execute strategic territory sales plans
  • Achieve and exceed agreed revenue and growth targets
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and pipeline reporting
  • Provide weekly reports on customer visits and sales activity
  • Collaborate closely with internal sales and technical support teams
  • Represent the business professionally at all times

Key Experience & Qualifications – Area Sales Manager

  • B2B Sales experience
  • Experience managing a sales territory.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Self-motivated and target-driven approach.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the territory. 
  • Experience within steam systems, valves, process control, fluid handling, instrumentation, or related industries is advantageous.
  • Technical sales experience within industrial markets.
  • Knowledge of steam and process applications.

Apprenticeship, HNC/HND, or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.Experience or strong interest in process automation, control systems, industrial equipment, or engineered solutions.Comfortable interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.Previous experience in a technical sales, applications engineering, or customer‑facing engineering role is desirable.Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both engineers and non‑engineers.Organised, detail‑focused, and technically curious, with a practical, solutions‑driven mindset.
