Target rate: £36 – 40 per hour negotiable on skill set

We are recruiting for two or three experienced Mechanical Maintenance Fitters / Engineers to support a major planned shutdown and overhaul programme at an industrial manufacturing facility in the Doncaster area.

This is an excellent opportunity for mechanically biased contractors looking for a high-hours project with immediate November starts available.

One position would particularly suit an engineer with mechanical fitting, fabrication, and welding capabilities alongside core maintenance experience.

Key Responsibilities - Mechanical Maintenance Engineers - Temporary Contracts

  • Planned maintenance activities during a major shut-down
  • Mechanical overhaul and refurbishment of production plant
  • Inspection, repair, and replacement of worn components
  • Conveyor maintenance and rebuild activities
  • Maintenance of mixers, hoppers, screening equipment, and associated process machinery
  • Roller belt replacement, alignment, and adjustment
  • Mechanical fitting and installation work
  • Machinery alignment and precision fitting
  • Replacement of bearings, motors, gearboxes, chains, and sprockets
  • Supporting plant recommissioning activities
  • Ensuring equipment is production-ready ahead of peak operating periods

Essential Requirements - Mechanical Maintenance Engineers - Temporary Contracts

  • NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering or equivalent apprenticeship
  • Strong mechanical maintenance background
  • Experience within manufacturing, process, heavy industrial, recycling, aggregates, quarrying, building materials, FMCG or related environments
  • Mechanical fault finding and overhaul experience
  • Experienced in shutdown, outage, turnaround, or plant overhaul projects
  • Ability to work independently and safely within a fast-paced industrial environment
  • Highly Desirable
  • Mechanical fitting background
  • Fabrication experience
  • MIG and/or TIG welding skills
  • Plant modification and improvement work
  • Site installation experience

Contract Details

  • Start Date: 1st or 2nd November
  • Duration: 6 Weeks est
  • Hours: 10-12 hours per day
  • Working Pattern: 6 days per week
  • Status: Inside IR35
  • PAYE / Umbrella Contractors Only
  • Location: Doncaster Area, ideally you will live in commute but if you are happy moving to the area applications are welcome BUT there are no accommodation support or expenses on top of the rate

My client is on the lookout for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join the team and work in one of their busy Distribution Centres.

The role will involve carrying out planned and reactive maintenance within the Westfield Distribution Centre.

You will be the first line in all maintenance issues throughout your allocated site. You may be required to request specialist attendance following initial call out.

The purpose of this role is to carry out technical repairs and PPM’s. You will ensure that all technical and compliance paperwork is completed and up to date at all times.  

Key Responsibilities – Maintenance Technician

Complete the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule within agreed timescales and to ensure all necessary paperwork is completed accurately.  Respond promptly and positively to service call requests from the Helpdesk and to assess the requirements of the job and carry out repairs as and where necessary.  Prioritise maintenance and repair work to achieve agreed timescales and response times.  Deliver reactive and planned fire alarm system maintenance  Conduct emergency lighting tests and repairs  Follow purchase order process.  Identify non-repairable faults in plant and machinery and promptly advise the Line Manager of findings, with recommendations regarding suitable replacement.  Ensure that compliance documentation is completed and up to date at all times

Qualifications & Experience – Maintenance Technician

Educated to GCSE / Standard Grade level as a minimum, ideally NVQ Level 3/City and guilds 236 Part 1 + 2 or equivalent in electrical installation/Maintenance.  City and Guilds 2382 18th editionAM2/23913 phase electrics and its applications   Ability to maintain and repair a wide range of electrical and mechanical equipment, e.g. commercial ovens, dishwashers and microwaves
