About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join a global automotive technology manufacturer at its Bolton facility on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced quality professional to influence supplier performance, support new product launches and drive continuous improvement across a global supply chain.

Key Responsibilities - Supplier Quality Engineer

Support the approval and qualification of new suppliers through management system and process audits.Manage supplier activities throughout New Product Introduction (NPI), ensuring project deadlines are achieved.Lead Supplier APQP and PPAP approval activities.Conduct ongoing supplier audits and assessments to maintain supplier approval status.Develop suppliers through training, coaching and deployment of quality standards.Carry out supplier visits for audits, development projects and corrective action reviews.Act as the primary quality interface between suppliers and the business.Monitor and report supplier quality KPIs, driving improvements in supplier performance.Lead supplier corrective and preventive action activities.Manage quality-related aspects of supplier change control processes.Investigate and manage supplier non-conformances and rejection issues.

Experience/Qualifications - Supplier Quality Engineer

HNC/HND qualified in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering.Qualified IATF 16949 and/or VDA 6.3 Auditor.Minimum 3 years' experience in a Supplier Quality or Quality Engineering role.Automotive experience preferred, although backgrounds in electronics, mechanical manufacturing or high-volume assembly environments will also be considered.Strong understanding of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, R&R and supplier development methodologies.Experience conducting supplier audits and managing supplier improvement projects.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.Comfortable travelling to supplier sites when required.Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

This role offers the chance to work within a highly specialised quality environment, supporting product testing, analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities - Quality Technician (Automotive)

Analyse customer and field returns to identify defects and root causes.Carry out functional testing and dimensional measurement of new and existing products.Perform product reliability testing in line with customer requirements and project timescales.Produce clear and accurate technical reports detailing investigation findings and recommendations.Operate, inspect and maintain testing and measurement equipment.Support the creation and maintenance of testing procedures and standard operating instructions.Assist with customer and supplier PPAP activities.Support manufacturing operations with containment and quality-related activities when required.Work with Quality Engineers, customers and suppliers to support investigations and corrective actions.

Experience/Qualifications - Quality Technician (Automotive)

ONC or equivalent qualification within an Engineering discipline.Minimum 2 years' experience within a manufacturing environment.Experience programming and operating CMM equipment.Strong understanding of GD&T and measurement techniques.Experience using test stands and quality inspection equipment.Ability to investigate faults and identify root causes.Strong report-writing and analytical skills.Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across quality, production and engineering teams.

Act as the primary customer interface for all quality-related issues.Manage line returns, warranty returns and customer complaints, ensuring robust corrective actions are implemented.Monitor, analyse and report quality KPI performance, driving continuous improvement initiatives.Support Quality Technicians with product investigations and testing activities.Develop and maintain quality procedures, work instructions and test specifications.Manage internal and external concession requests.Conduct supplier audits and support supplier quality improvement activities.Complete customer quality documentation including APQP, PPAP and related requirements.Analyse process capability and R&R data, working closely with Production Engineering to improve manufacturing performance.Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements, IATF 16949 standards and internal quality systems.

The Role - Aerospace Mechanical Technician

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical biased Technician to join a prominent aerospace engineering business in the Wolverhampton area.

You will be assembling and testing a mix of complex mechanical systems either in the repair section or in the new product build area.

You'll ideally have some prior aerospace experience, however for the right person this could be a great step into this world.

 

Duties - Aerospace Mechanical Technician

Finding and testing faults of complex hydraulic products.Assembling of complex hydraulic products.Reading engineering drawings.Completing Quality Audits.Building new/repairing complex hydraulic products.Using measuring equipment such as Micrometers, Vernier Calipers and Height Gauges to inspect component parts.

 

Background - Aerospace Assembly Technician

Apprentice trained (or equivalent level of qualification) ideally within Mechanical Engineering.Proven experience within a complex engineering/manufacturing environmentCompetent at reading and following different set procedures.Competency with a range of assembly toolsHydraulic Testing Experience
