Role Overview – Supplier Quality Engineer

Are you an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer looking to take a leading role in strengthening supply chain performance within a highly regulated engineering environment? This is an excellent opportunity to join a global aerospace manufacturer as they continue to enhance supplier capability, ensure compliance, and drive world‑class standards across their supply base.

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will act as a key technical interface between suppliers, internal teams, and customers—ensuring that supplied materials, components and processes meet stringent aerospace requirements. You’ll lead supplier audits, drive Zero Defect initiatives, support APQP activity, and ensure robust corrective action across the supply chain.

This is an on‑site role based in Coventry, involving regular collaboration with suppliers, engineering, quality and procurement teams, as well as periodic travel within the UK and internationally.

Key Responsibilities – Supplier Quality Engineer

  • Providing quality support to the supply chain and internal value streams
  • Leading supplier performance improvement initiatives and supplier‑related continuous improvement
  • Planning and conducting supplier audits in line with AS9100 and internal requirements
  • Supporting the deployment of the Zero Defect programme across key suppliers to reduce DPPM
  • Ensuring prompt containment, root cause analysis and corrective actions using 8D, 5‑Why, Cause & Effect
  • Reviewing and approving supplier FAIRs to AS9102 requirements
  • Working with suppliers to ensure compliance to AS9100, Part 21 and customer‑specific regulations
  • Analysing non‑conformance and quality data to recommend improvements
  • Supporting source transfer activities and supplier development programmes
  • Collaborating closely with procurement, engineering and operations to resolve supply chain issues
  • Supporting APQP processes including PFMEA, DFMEA, Control Plans and PPAP
  • Ensuring documentation, records and compliance evidence are accurate, complete and audit‑ready

Key Experience & Qualifications – Supplier Quality Engineer

  • Experience in aerospace or another highly regulated engineering/manufacturing sector
  • Strong working knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, ISO9001 and aerospace supplier quality requirements
  • Experience conducting supplier audits and driving supplier development
  • Proficiency in APQP, PPAP, DFMEA/PFMEA and root cause analysis tools
  • Understanding of Part 21 Subpart G and (ideally) Part 145 requirements
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to influence and challenge suppliers
  • Hands‑on, proactive approach with strong analytical and problem‑solving ability
  • Experience with SAP or similar MRP/ERP systems
  • Engineering or technical qualification, or equivalent industry experience

Key Responsibilities – Mechanical Fitter

The role is to ensure assemblies are manufactured correctly to specification and on time.

• To fit and assemble machine parts accurately to engineering drawing.

• To accurately fit sub assembly parts using engineering drawings.

• Use hand tools and power tools to fit and assemble components.

• Use pillar drills, deburring tools and grinding wheels safely where necessary.

• Use engineering measuring equipment where necessary to ensure components are to specification.

• Drill and tap components when necessary.

• Ensure all torque requirements are met and marked as per procedure.

• Fit / pipe pneumatic and water circuits using either copper or plastic pipe work.

• Strip / prepare machines and tooling for painting and despatch.

• Install machines at customer sites as necessary overseas.

• Ensure safe systems of work are always adhered to and ensure any issues are reported

immediately to management.

• Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and stored safely.

• Ensure all non-conforming parts or design issues are reported in a timely manner using

NCR/ECR forms.

Qualifications & Requirements – Mechanical Fitter

• Mechanical Apprenticeship.

• Proven ability to read and understand technical engineering drawings and specifications.

• Ability to read pneumatics drawings advantageous.

• Flexibility to travel abroad to customers if required.

• Proven effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Basic computer literacy.

Job Role – Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Reporting to the Mechanical Design & Analysis Functional Manager the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the design of new structural developments and help oversee sub-systems integration from concepts through to testing and flight. The role will include mechanical design, work package management, integration and support activities.

Duties – Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

• Design of platform components, assemblies and systems to fulfil customer and project requirements using 3D modelling tools and techniques
• Design of Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) for the assembly, handling, and test of equipment.
• Design of electronics enclosures through close liaison with the electrical design team to ensure compatibility with Printed Circuit Assemblies (PCAs).
• Implementation of design changes using Engineering Change Notes (ECNs).
• Close working relationships with mechanical analysts, project managers, system engineers and manufacturing disciplines.
• Management of mechanical Work Packages and responsibility for estimating own schedule & budgets.
• Leading and supporting key team and project milestone reviews.
• Completion of manufacturing drawings to enable component procurement and support of manufacturing activities and inspections
• Technical Report writing.
• Writing detailed assembly procedures and technical build information
• Undertake build activities for mechanical hardware in clean room facilities
• Creating and maintaining build logs
• Creating BoM’s and managing procurement demand through the company Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system.

Experience/Qualifications – Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

• Degree in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent
• Competent use of leading CAD packages (Solid Works (preferred), Solid Edge or Similar) and familiarity with MRP systems
• Specifying/ identifying appropriate materials, surface treatments and finishes for mechanical component design in aerospace applications
• Understanding of Finite Element Analysis and ability to perform basic analysis of secondary structure desirable but not essential.
• Experience of spacecraft level static, dynamic and thermo-elastic analysis using the latest FEA tools.
• Experience of mechanical testing such as vibration, static and shock.
