We are currently recruiting for a Controls Engineer to join their growing team based between Cheltenham and Tewkesbury. Our client specialise with bespoke control systems, factory automation solutions, robotics, vision inspection systems and plastic container handling equipment. Due to continued growth and increased customer demand, they are looking to appoint an experienced Controls Engineer to work on a wide range of innovative automation projects across multiple industries. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of projects from concept through to commissioning, working closely with mechanical and electrical design teams to deliver complete turnkey automation solutions.

Main Duties - Controls Engineer

Program PLCs, HMI/Touch Screens, SCADA and industrial network systemsDesign and develop bespoke control systems for automation projectsWork closely with panel builders to ensure systems are built to specificationCarry out on-site installation and commissioning activitiesProvide service, support and fault finding on existing customer systemsManage projects through all stages from concept, design and build to final handoverLiaise directly with customers and suppliers throughout project deliveryTrain and mentor junior engineers and other team membersEnsure projects are delivered on time and to the highest standardsTravel throughout the UK and internationally to support installations and commissioning activities

The Ideal Candidate - Controls Engineer

Strong experience within industrial control systemsPLC programming experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens systemsKnowledge of industrial networks including EtherNET/IP and ProfiNETExperience working within manufacturing or automation environmentsStrong fault finding and problem-solving abilitiesAble to work independently and manage multiple projectsExcellent communication skills and customer-facing experienceFull UK driving licenceWillingness to travel regularly within the UK and overseas (approximately 50%)Positive attitude with a hands-on approach and strong attention to detail

Position: CNC Machinist - Miller

Location: Gloucester

Position: permanent

Salary:  £37000 to £40000

Working hours: Monday to Friday week 1 6:00 am to 02:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm week 2

Overtimes: paid at premium rate

Health and Safety Manager - Part-time

Salary

Up to £55,000 per annum (pro-rata £36,000)

Job Purpose

To lead the development, implementation, and management of health and safety policies and procedures within the engineering and aerospace environment. The role ensures compliance with relevant legislation, promotes a positive safety culture, and minimises risks to employees, contractors, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures aligned with current legislation and best practise.Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits across all operational areas to identify hazards and implement appropriate control measures.Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses, producing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.Provide expert advice and guidance to management and staff on health and safety matters, ensuring awareness and understanding across the organisation.Coordinate health and safety training programmes to ensure all personnel meet statutory requirements and internal standards.Monitor and report on health and safety performance using key performance indicators and suggest continuous improvements.Liaise with regulatory bodies, external auditors, and contractors to ensure compliance and best practise standards.Ensure that emergency procedures and contingency plans are in place, regularly reviewed, and tested.Promote a proactive health and safety culture that encourages employee engagement and participation.Manage health and safety documentation, records, and licences to ensure accuracy and accessibility.

Required Qualifications

NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent recognised qualification.Valid First Aid certification is desirable.

Education

A degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.

Experience

Proven experience in a health and safety managerial role within the engineering or aerospace sectors.Demonstrable experience of conducting risk assessments, safety audits, and accident investigations.Experience of working with regulatory bodies such as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).Track record of successfully implementing health and safety management systems in compliance with ISO 45001 or similar standards.

Knowledge and Skills

Comprehensive understanding of UK health and safety legislation and best practises.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and engaging personnel at all levels.Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively in a part-time capacity.Competence in producing clear, concise reports and maintaining accurate documentation.Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications and health and safety management software.

Preferred Qualifications

Membership of a recognised professional body such as the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or the British Safety Council.Additional qualifications or training in environmental management or quality assurance.

Working Conditions

Work is primarily office-based with frequent site inspections in operational and engineering environments.The role requires adherence to personal protective equipment protocols and compliance with site-specific safety rules.Part-time hours offer flexibility but may require occasional attendance outside standard working hours for audits or incident investigations.
