My client is on the lookout for an experienced Senior Site Technician to join the team and support operations at one of their busy distribution sites.

This is a key position responsible for delivering and supervising both planned and reactive maintenance activities, whilst supporting the Assistant Maintenance Manager with site communications and people management responsibilities.

This is a hands-on role, with at least 50% of your time spent carrying out maintenance tasks. You will be the first line of support for maintenance issues across your designated site and may be required to coordinate specialist contractors following initial investigations.

The purpose of this role is to deliver and supervise technical repairs and PPMs while ensuring all technical and compliance documentation is completed accurately and kept up to date, both electronically and manually.

You will work closely with site teams to monitor open jobs, planned maintenance schedules and compliance activities, ensuring all tasks are completed within agreed timescales and uploaded correctly to the Mercury system.

Key Responsibilities - Senior Site Technician

  • Supervise and complete Statutory and non-Statutory Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules within agreed timescales.
  • Respond promptly and positively to service call requests from the Helpdesk, assessing requirements and carrying out repairs where necessary.
  • Work closely with site operations teams to plan reactive and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Maintain 100% site compliance and address any compliance-related issues.
  • Attend site and regional meetings to discuss maintenance plans and coordinate operational requirements.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers and 3PL providers on site.
  • Ensure all maintenance paperwork and compliance documentation is completed accurately and uploaded to Mercury within required timescales.
  • Identify non-repairable faults in plant and machinery and provide recommendations for replacement and quotations.
  • Advise site management teams of maintenance issues that could impact operational performance.
  • Carry out minor alterations and installations within technical competence and current regulations.
  • Complete site surveys and reports as required by management.
  • Manage and control site stock levels.
  • Support the Assistant Maintenance Manager with return-to-work interviews, rota management and team development.
  • Drive correct usage of the Mercury system across the site team and ensure all tasks are updated in real time.
  • Participate in the on-call rota to provide 24/7 maintenance support coverage.

Qualifications & Experience - Senior Site Technician

  • Educated to GCSE / Standard Grade level as a minimum.
  • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds 236 Part 1 & 2, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Installation/Maintenance.
  • 3+ years' experience working with automated hanging systems (where site specific).
  • Proven experience working with mechanical and pneumatic systems.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of planned and reactive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to maintain excellent Health & Safety standards.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive customer and colleague relationships.
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering repairs and maintenance activities to a high standard.

On Offer - Senior Site Technician

  • £46,746.56 per annum inclusive of standby payments, 5% SLA and £2,000 Welcome Bonus.
  • 40 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday.
  • Participation in a 24/7 on-call rota.

Continuous Improvement

Drive continuous improvement initiatives by applying Lean six-sigma principles focused on productivity, cost reduction, and process capability (Cp/Cpk).Support trials of new consumables, materials, and technologies.Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with Design Engineering to influence manufacturability and weld joint design.Support Supply Chain and Quality teams with supplier welding capability assessments when required.Provide training and technical guidance to operators, technicians, and inspectors.
