We are looking for a skilled and proactive Shift Engineer to join a well-established food manufacturing site in Wrexham. Operating within a high-volume, fast-paced environment, you’ll play a key role in ensuring production equipment runs safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on problem-solving and working as part of a collaborative shift team.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities - Shift Engineer

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on manufacturing and packaging equipment
  • Quickly diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime
  • Support production teams to ensure machinery operates at optimal efficiency
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks in line with site schedules
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health & safety, food safety, and quality standards
  • Accurately record maintenance activities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assist with equipment improvements, breakdown root cause analysis, and minor project work
  • Work effectively on a continental shift pattern, handing over clearly between shifts

Qualifications & Experience - Shift Engineer

  • Level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience working within a manufacturing environment (food, FMCG, or similar highly regulated sector preferred)
  • Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical and/or electrical systems
  • A proactive, team-focused approach with good communication skills
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and make sound engineering decisions

My client is on the lookout for an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join the team. You will have the opportunity to work on one of their leading supermarket contracts.

The role will involve maintaining and repairing a range of electrical, mechanical and catering equipment in retail outlets, undertaking regular planned store visits to complete reactive work, PPMs and minor repairs as requested by the customer.

Key Responsibilities – Mobile Maintenance Electrician

Complete the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule within agreed timescales and to ensure all necessary paperwork is completed accurately. Deliver reactive and planned catering and bakery equipment maintenanceConduct emergency lighting and fire alarm tests and repairs.Complete general repairs and maintenance to customer sitesIdentify non-repairable faults in plant and machinery and promptly advise the Line Manager of findings, with recommendations regarding suitable replacement.

Qualifications & Experience – Mobile Maintenance Electrician

NVQ Level 3/City and guilds 236 Part 1 + 2 or equivalent in electrical installation/Maintenance. City and Guilds 18th Edition.AM2 / 2391

On Offer – Mobile Maintenance Electrician

£40,593.78 (Inclusive of Standby (1:4 x 13 Periods) & Competency Payment) + overtime + travel timeIncludes a £1,500 competency payment will be added to the basic salary upon completion of electrical fault training for catering and bakery equipment.
