We’re currently supporting a client in the search for a Maintenance Manager to join their small, well-established engineering facility in Worcestershire. This is a standalone role, offering full ownership of the maintenance function while working closely with site engineers and wider staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for both reactive and planned preventative maintenance across all facilities and equipment, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. The position operates on a days-based shift pattern and provides a strong level of autonomy, giving the Maintenance Manager the flexibility to effectively manage workload and priorities while maintaining high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities – Maintenance Manager

  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on plastic injection moulding machines and auxiliary equipment such as chillers, robots, granulators, and air compressors working individually and with other members of staff
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues, including PLCs, control systems, and electronic subsystems, while overseeing critical electrical systems
  • Collaborate with production teams to minimise downtime, enhance machinery reliability, and implement upgrades for improved performance
  • Submit detailed daily activity reports and weekly improvement progress reports to ensure transparency and drive continuous development
  • Mentor and guide an apprentice engineer, fostering their professional growth, while adhering to health and safety regulations in all tasks

Qualifications & Requirements – Maintenance Manager

  • Proven experience maintaining plastic injection moulding machinery or similar industrial equipment, with strong expertise in electrical systems and PLC programming
  • Engineering qualifications to a minimum of Level 3 in Mechatronics, Electrical, or equivalent qualifications to accommodate diverse educational backgrounds
  • Comfortable using computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) or similar digital tools for accurate record-keeping
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong communication abilities to work effectively within a team
  • Previous experience mentoring or supervising junior staff is highly desirable, ensuring inclusivity for candidates with varied leadership backgrounds
