Our Bolton facility is a key high-volume production site focused on precision assembly and testing systems, and we are now seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team.

This is a hands-on role ideal for a proactive, skilled tradesperson who thrives in a fast-paced, high-output manufacturing environment. You will play a critical role in maximising equipment uptime, driving continuous improvement, and supporting our commitment to world-class production standards.

Responsibilities – Maintenance Engineer

Troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of high-volume PLC-controlled production equipmentPlanning and performing preventative maintenance on critical assetsImprovement and modification of assembly/test equipment and transfer systemsService and maintenance of electrical and mechanical site services/plantSupporting the installation and commissioning of new equipment

Experience/Qualifications - Maintenance Engineer

Ideally qualified to ONC/HNC level (or equivalent) in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, supported by City & Guilds Part 3 (or similar) and NVQ Level 2 & 3Time-served apprenticeship in a relevant engineering disciplineSignificant hands-on experience (minimum 2+ years) in high-volume manufacturing environmentsProven track record in equipment repair, maintenance, and process improvementExperience in fitting, fabrication, and machining is highly advantageousStrong background in maintenance and fault-finding on PLC-controlled and robotic high-volume equipment (ideal but not essential)Solid experience maintaining and diagnosing faults in hydraulic and pneumatic systems

Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical engineering, maintenance, or similar manufacturingHND or HNC diploma in Electrical or Mechanical engineeringOr the equivalent of any of the above in electrical or mechanical fields, preferably with a manufacturing backgroundFMCG,  Manufacturing and chemicals are most welcome, as well as the armed forces and related engineering

THE ROLE - Mechanical Design Engineer

Due to impressive project and program wins, we are seeking to recruit Mechanical Design Engineers to support our client's aerospace engineering operations.

You'll need to have strong experience in both conceptual design and detailed drawing of components and assemblies, with experience in aerospace deemed highly valuable.

This is an Inside IR35 position that will require on site working due to the nature of the work.

 

DUTIES - Mechanical Design Engineer

Design and develop mechanical components and assembliesCreate accurate technical drawings and 3D CAD models.Apply GD&T and perform tolerance analysisParticipate in DFMEA and risk identification activities.Present design concepts, progress updates and final designs to customers.Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure viable manufacturability.Support prototype build, testing and troubleshootingGenerate and maintain design documentationParticipate in design reviews, risk assessments and CI activities.

 

BACKGROUND - Mechanical Design Engineer

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or HNC/HNDProficiency in producing technical drawings and specifications.Working knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack?ups.Experience with 3D CAD systems (Siemens NX preferred)Experience with PLM/PDM systems (Teamcenter preferred).
