I’m currently supporting a fast-paced, highly automated FMCG manufacturing site in the Wrexham area with an urgent requirement for a Production Planner / Scheduler to join on a temporary contract basis, minimum 3 months ongoing.

This is a key position within a high-volume process and packaging environment, where accurate planning and agile scheduling are critical to maintaining maximum operational efficiency.

Role &  Responsibilities - Production Planner / Scheduler  - Temporary Contract

Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules aligned to customer demand and service levelsSequence production across automated processes and packaging lines to optimise efficiency and minimise changeoversManage capacity planning, line utilisation, and bottlenecks within a high-speed manufacturing environmentCoordinate materials availability, packaging requirements, and production prioritiesSupport planning for promotions, seasonal demand, and NPD launchesLiaise with operations, engineering, supply chain, and procurement teams to ensure plan adherenceMonitor and adjust schedules in real-time to respond to downtime, supply issues, or demand changesDrive continuous improvement across planning accuracy, OTIF, waste reduction, and throughput

Experience as a Production Planner, Scheduler, Supply Chain Planner, or Inventory Planner, or SchedulerBackground in FMCG, food & drink, or other fast-paced manufacturing environmentsProven experience planning within automated, high-volume process and packaging operationsStrong working knowledge of SAP / APO (or similar ERP/MRP systems) and advanced ExcelAbility to balance short-term scheduling with operational constraints and demand changesA proactive individual who can hit the ground running and deliver immediate value

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for multi-skilled maintenance engineers with a strong background in packaging machinery to join a global manufacturing leader.

This role has been created due to significant site expansion, automation, and investment, offering the opportunity to work in a highly automated, world-class production environment.

You will be maintaining high-speed packaging lines producing globally recognised consumer products, within a large-scale facility employing hundreds of people. This is an excellent opportunity for engineers looking for career progression, technical development, and exposure to advanced automation.

Key Responsibilities – Packaging Maintenance Focus

Carry out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance on high-speed packaging machinery

Fault find and repair across:

Filling machinesSealing, labelling and coding equipmentConveyors and palletisersWrapping and automated packaging systems

Diagnose and resolve faults on:

Electrical systems (sensors, drives, controls, PLCs)Mechanical systems (bearings, gearboxes, chains, belts)

Conduct machine inspections, reporting on:

Equipment conditionPerformance issuesOpportunities for reliability improvements

Support and deliver continuous improvement projects, including Packaging Line Optimisation

Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely using correct procedures and tools

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are particularly interested in engineers with direct experience in packaging or FMCG production environments.
