Role Overview – Fabricator

Are you a skilled fabricator or fitter with strong hands-on ability and a passion for precision engineering? Do you enjoy working on complex assemblies and seeing your work contribute to real-world, high-performance applications?

Our client, a leading aerospace engineering organisation, is seeking a Sheet Metal Fabricator / Fitter to join their team. This role focuses on the manufacture, inspection, and assembly of aircraft components, supporting both prototype development and in-service maintenance.

Working in a highly regulated aviation environment, you will play a key role in ensuring aircraft safety, quality, and compliance, contributing directly to bespoke engineering solutions across civil and military applications.

Key Responsibilities – Fabricator

  • Manufacture detailed components from sheet metal in line with engineering drawings and aviation standards.
  • Inspect parts supplied by subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements.
  • Assemble and fit components, including the use of rivets, fasteners, and bonding techniques.
  • Carry out structural repairs to aircraft using sheet metal and composite methods.
  • Apply protective coatings as required.
  • Work closely with design and engineering teams on prototype and modification projects.
  • Support hangar operations, including aircraft handling and general workshop duties.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety, airworthiness, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards in line with best practice principles.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively depending on project requirements.

Key Experience & Qualifications – Fabricator

  • Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in Fabrication or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in sheet metal work, fabrication, mechanical fitting, or similar hands-on engineering roles.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and technical data.
  • Strong manual skills and attention to detail.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Desirable:
  • Experience within the aerospace or aviation sector.
  • Knowledge of aircraft fasteners, riveting, and bonding techniques.
  • Experience working with composites.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP.

This is a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Technician position within a highly regarded global engineering and manufacturing environment. You will play a key role in ensuring production equipment and facilities operate reliably and efficiently, supporting continuous improvement and minimising downtime.

Working as part of a skilled maintenance team, you will be responsible for diagnosing faults, maintaining equipment, and contributing to projects that improve operational performance, safety, and energy efficiency.

Responsibilities - Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across a range of production equipment (including bearings, conveyors, pneumatics, and associated systems)Support electrical engineers with basic fault finding on sensors, motors, and control panelsCarry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activitiesMaintain tools and equipment to ensure safe and effective operationRespond quickly to breakdowns and emergencies to minimise production disruptionManage and update technical documentation for machinery and production linesSupport tooling activities, including tool setting and machine setupWork with workshop machinery such as lathes, milling machines, drills, and grindersContribute to continuous improvement and maintenance reduction projectsUse CMMS systems to record work, analyse trends, and improve equipment performancePropose and implement improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and safety across production processes

Experience / Qualifications - Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Time-served apprentice or formally qualified in Mechanical EngineeringProven experience in a manufacturing or production maintenance environmentStrong mechanical fault-finding and repair skillsBasic to intermediate electrical knowledge (motors, sensors, panels)Experience with tool setting and machine tool setupFamiliarity with workshop machinery (lathes, milling, drilling, grinding)Experience using CMMS systems for maintenance tracking and analysisAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawingsStrong communication skills with the ability to work across departmentsProactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement

My client is on the lookout for an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to join the team. You will have the opportunity to work on one of their leading supermarket contracts.

The role will involve carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across several retail stores, maintaining, and repairing a range of commercial heating systems and air conditioning units. Additionally, you will undertake regular planned store visits to complete reactive work, PPMs and minor repairs as requested by the customer.

Key Responsibilities – Commercial Gas Engineer

Carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance across a number of sites. Service and repair a range of mechanical equipment, e.g. boilers, fans, pumps, AHU's, FCU's.Carry out minor alterations and installations within the individual’s technical competence in accordance with current specifications.Order spares to the laid-down procedures.Identify non-repairable faults in plant and machinery and promptly advise the HVAC supervisor of findings, with recommendations regarding suitable replacement.

Qualifications & Experience – Commercial Gas Engineer

SVQ/NVQ Level 3 within Heating/Ventilation/Mechanical / HVAC or Equivalent Qualification.ACS Commercial Gas Qualifications COCN, CIGA, CORT, ICPN, CDGA, TPCP1/1A as a minimum.
