The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen due to site expansion and the launch of a new production line at a well‑established, global manufacturing operation in Bolton. We’re seeking an experienced Shift Manager to play a key role in driving operational excellence, team performance, and continuous improvement within a high‑volume, regulated manufacturing environment.

The Role

As Shift Manager, you will be accountable for the end‑to‑end performance of your shift on a modern manufacturing line. You’ll lead, coach and develop your team while ensuring production targets, quality standards and compliance requirements are consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities – Shift Manager

  • Manage and supervise all production activities during your shift, ensuring alignment with build schedules and pre‑SOP readiness
  • Lead, motivate and develop the manufacturing team; conduct performance reviews and address staffing or performance issues
  • Ensure product quality standards are met, responding quickly to defects or process issues
  • Monitor KPIs including output, yield and efficiency, reporting performance to senior management
  • Oversee equipment use, troubleshooting issues to minimise downtime and maximise productivity
  • Resolve operational issues such as bottlenecks, equipment failure or supply chain disruption
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, environmental regulations and internal policies
  • Drive continuous improvement through lean manufacturing and process optimisation initiatives
  • Mentor and develop Production Team Members (PTMs), embedding lean thinking and accountability
  • Act as a senior site contact during out‑of‑hours periods, supporting wider business needs

Qualifications/Experience – Shift Manager

  • 5+ years’ experience in production or shift management within a manufacturing environment (electronics or automotive preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of IATF 16949, PPAP, APQP and FMEA
  • Proven experience implementing lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar CI tools
  • Experience coordinating cross‑functional teams and working with OEM customers
  • Strong analytical skills with a practical, solutions‑focused mindset
  • Excellent communication skills, able to influence at all levels
  • Experience using MES, ERP systems and Microsoft Office for reporting and analysis
  • Ability to manage priorities, deadlines and smooth shift handovers

A well-established and growing organisation is seeking a proactive Logistics Specialist to join its Supply Chain team based in Maldon. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Review sales orders and coordinate inbound and outbound shipment bookings alongside Customer Service and Planning teamsManage UK and export shipments via road, sea, and air freight, including groupage consignmentsCreate detailed loading plans to maximise vehicle and container utilisationMaintain and update daily warehouse loading schedules, ensuring clear communication of any changesGenerate inventory picking instructions in line with shipment requirementsObtain, compare, and analyse carriage quotations to support commercial decision-makingMaintain transport and shipping cost records and spreadsheetsIdentify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements across logistics activitiesAct as a point of contact for customer enquiries regarding export procedures and transport arrangementsEnsure correct application of Incoterms and compliance with export documentation requirementsPrepare and verify export paperwork and carriage documentationMonitor supplier, carrier, and 3PL performance, implementing corrective actions where requiredLiaise with freight forwarders and transport providers to maintain service levels and cost controlSupport KPI reporting and continuous improvement initiatives within the Supply Chain function

This is a high-impact position where you will develop and execute supply chain strategies, deliver significant cost savings, and build strong supplier relationships that create real competitive advantage. Key Responsibilities - Strategic Buyer (Engineering)
