Manual Machinist / Skilled Turner Required

Location: Bristol

Job Type: Full Time - Permanent

Salary: Up to £34,500 + Overtime Opportunities & benefits

We are looking for a time-served Manual Machinist / Turner to join our client’s skilled machine shop. If you take pride in precision engineering & manufacturing, enjoy working on manual machines, and have a high standard of workmanship, this may be of interest to you.

Key Duties

  • Operate and set up manual centre lathes to produce high-quality, precision components
  • Perform turning, milling, and fitting operations to tight tolerances
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately
  • Measure and inspect finished parts using precision tools to ensure they meet quality standards
  • Maintain machines and equipment to ensure optimum performance and reliability

Requirements

  • Time-served Turner or Toolmaker with proven manual machining experience
  • Strong proficiency in setting up and operating manual centre lathes
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Competent in precision measurement and inspection techniques
  • Solid understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials
  • Responsible approach to machine maintenance and workplace safety
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Proactive, organised, and a positive team player with a can-do attitude
  • Relevant technical qualifications or apprenticeships are advantageous.
  • Desire to learn new skills, including CNC machining.

The role will involve carrying out planned and reactive maintenance in Distribution sites in Enfield

You will be the first line in all maintenance issues throughout your allocated site. You may be required to request specialist attendance following initial call out.

The purpose of this role is to carry out technical repairs and PPM’s. You will ensure that all technical and compliance paperwork is completed and up to date at all times.  

Key Responsibilities – Maintenance Technician

Qualifications & Experience – Maintenance Technician

NVQ Level 3/City and guilds 236 Part 1 + 2 or equivalent in electrical installation/Maintenance.  City and Guilds 2382 18th editionAM2/23913 phase electrics and its applications   Ability to maintain and repair a wide range of electrical and mechanical equipment, e.g. commercial ovens, dishwashers and microwaves
