We are seeking a highly skilled Control Systems Engineer to join our client based in. This role involves hands-on PLC/SCADA development, functional safety integration, and on-site commissioning, ensuring maximum uptime, quality, and compliance
Key Responsibilities - Control Systems Engineer
- Specify, program, modify, and test PLCs including Siemens TIA/Step7, Mitsubishi, and Beckhoff
- Design and implement functional safety architectures including light curtains, scanners, interlocks, safety PLCs, zoning, safe states, estops, and reset logic
- Produce safety documentation such as risk assessments, SRS, validation plans, proof-testing, and change logs in line with ISO 13849/IEC 62061
- Develop HMI/SCADA systems, data acquisition, alarms, diagnostics, and performance dashboards
- Integrate cells with plant networks, historians, and MES systems where applicable
- Plan, schedule, and deliver projects from concept through handover, including FAT/SAT and minimal downtime upgrades
- Troubleshoot faults and implement root-cause fixes across electrical systems, PLCs, sensors, and communications
- Act as a point of contact for production and maintenance teams, providing training, operating procedures, and commissioning/maintenance guides
- Maintain version control, technical drawings (AutoCAD), and adhere to site standards, change control, and audit requirements
Qualifications & Requirements - Control Systems Engineer
- HNC in Electrical, Controls, or Mechatronics, or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in PLC/HMI design and commissioning including Siemens TIA/Step7, Mitsubishi, and Beckhoff TC2
- Hands-on functional safety integration experience including light curtains, door interlocks, scanners/radar, safety relays/PLCs
- HMI/SCADA development, fault-finding, and plant networking knowledge
- Strong diagnostics skills across sensors, VSDs/servo drives, and fieldbus systems such as Profinet/CC-Link
- Solid documentation discipline for URS/FS, FDS, test protocols, drawings, and change control
- Knowledge of industrial safety systems (ProfiSafe, TwinSafe, Pilz, SICK, Euchner) is preferred
- Recognised apprenticeship and industrial environment experience is advantageous
- Up-to-date knowledge of 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and programming structures such as EDDI
