We’re recruiting for an experienced Contract Mechanical Bias Maintenance Engineer to provide hands-on mechanical maintenance support within a busy, automated production and packaging environment.

✔ Strong multi-skilled mechanical fault diagnosis

✔ Experience with conveyors, motors, pneumatics, drives, sensors, presses, hoppers, silos  & basic  Electrical PLCs

✔ Preventive maintenance

✔ Quick turnaround repairs during high-volume peaks

You’ll play a key role in maintenance and fitting tasks, supporting production line maintenance and improvement projects while ensuring equipment uptime and performance.

Key Responsibilities: Contract Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

  • Carry out maintenance of mechanical fittings to support production and maintenance activities
  • Perform planned and reactive maintenance across production machinery, including conveyors, motors, and drives
  • Support the plant and automated systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, and handling equipment
  • Attend to breakdowns promptly, delivering fast, safe, and effective mechanical repairs
  • Assist in modification and improvement projects on process lines and production equipment
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring reliability and performance targets are achieved
  • Maintain safe working practices and uphold engineering standards across all tasks

Qualifications & Requirements - Contract Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

  • Time-served apprentice or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Previous experience in a process production or manufacturing environment – ideally with conveyors, motors, drives, etc
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and work independently on maintenance or modification projects
  • A proactive, problem-solving approach and commitment to continuous improvement
  • Computer-literate with a good understanding of maintenance reporting systems

Key Responsibilities - Head of Waste, Fleet & Environmental Services

Provide strategic leadership across Waste, Fleet and Environmental Services.Lead the delivery of statutory waste collection and environmental service functions.Develop and implement long-term service strategies aligned to corporate priorities.Ensure effective management of fleet assets, transport operations and workshop functions.Lead service transformation, modernisation and continuous improvement programmes.Oversee significant revenue and capital budgets.Manage complex contractor and partnership arrangements, including Waste PFI and outsourced service contracts.Ensure compliance with relevant environmental, transport, health & safety and operator licensing legislation.Drive fleet decarbonisation, carbon reduction and sustainability programmes.Lead business planning, performance management and service redesign initiatives.Build strong relationships with Members, Executive Leadership Teams, regulators and external stakeholders.
