We're looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a highly automated distribution and logistics operation. Working within a fast-paced warehouse environment, you'll maintain, fault-find and improve a wide range of automated material handling equipment that keeps products flowing to customers across the UK.

This is an excellent temporary contract opportunity for engineers from automated warehouses, FMCG, manufacturing, distribution centres, parcel hubs, airports, baggage handling operations, or other high-speed automated environments.

Responsibilities - Fleet Maintenance Controller

Assess and authorise vehicle maintenance and repair requests, ensuring work is necessary, cost-effective, and completed within agreed labour times.Challenge suppliers and repairers where appropriate to ensure best value and compliance with maintenance standards.Monitor vehicle downtime and proactively manage repairs to maximise fleet availability.Liaise with workshops, customers, and suppliers to provide updates on repair progress and expected completion times.Ensure all maintenance records, authorisations, and vehicle information are accurately recorded within company systems.Review estimates and invoices to ensure correct pricing and repair procedures have been applied.Escalate technical, commercial, or customer concerns when required.Deliver a high standard of customer service while working to deadlines, KPIs, and service level agreements.

Experience / Qualifications - Fleet Maintenance Controller

Qualified Vehicle Technician with City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, IMI, or equivalent automotive qualification.Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair, ideally covering cars, vans, LCVs, or commercial vehicles.Previous experience within a workshop, fleet management, maintenance control, service advisory, warranty, technical support, or engineering environment.Good understanding of vehicle compliance, servicing schedules, MOT requirements, and repair processes.Ability to challenge repair recommendations and discuss technical matters confidently with workshops and suppliers.Strong communication skills and the ability to manage difficult conversations professionally.Organised and able to work effectively within a fast-paced, target-driven environment.Customer-focused with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Job Title: Site Maintenance Electrician

Location: Stoke on Trent

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm

Salary: £39,111.36 per annum + Overtime.

Job Purpose:

You will be the first line in all maintenance issues throughout your allocated site. You may be required to request specialist attendance following initial call out.  

The purpose of this role is to carry out technical repairs and PPM’s. You will ensure that all technical and compliance paperwork is completed and up to date at all times.   

All work will be completed to the highest standards in an efficient and cost-effective manner, whilst complying with all Health and Safety legislation.  

Key Accountabilities:

Complete the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule within agreed timescales and to ensure all necessary paperwork is completed accurately.  Respond promptly and positively to service call requests from the Helpdesk and to assess the requirements of the job and carry out repairs as and where necessary.  Prioritise maintenance and repair work to achieve agreed timescales and response times.  Deliver reactive and planned fire alarm system maintenance  Conduct emergency lighting tests and repairs  Follow purchase order process.  Identify non-repairable faults in plant and machinery and promptly advise the Line Manager of findings, with recommendations regarding suitable replacement.  Ensure that compliance documentation is completed and up to date at all times  Advise the on-site customer (manager) of any repair and maintenance issues that are likely to affect the smooth running of the site.  Carry out minor alterations and installations within the individual’s technical competence in accordance with current specifications.  Attend training courses as and where necessary and to ensure personal job skills keep pace with technical developments.  Comply with the company Health and Safety Policy at all times.  Work with company and customer employees to ensure laid-down standards of quality are maintained at all times  This role is currently responsible for supervising AMT on technical works and PPM. This role is responsible for building good relationship with all colleagues and customers and has no direct reports.  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

NVQ Level 3/City and guilds 236 Part 1 + 2 or equivalent in electrical installation/Maintenance. City and Guilds 18th Edition.AM2 / 2391.3 phase electrics and its applications  Ability to maintain and repair a wide range of electrical and mechanical equipment, e.g. commercial ovens, dishwashers and microwaves  Quality of repairs and maintenance  Response to service call requests within agreed response times  Achievement of PPM schedule within agreed timescales  Maintenance of the Health and Safety policy
