About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Production Maintenance Engineer to join a leading  manufacturer in Nottingham. This is a unique role combining hands-on maintenance and machine optimization within a highly automated production, process and packaging environment.

Working on high-speed manufacturing production lines, you'll be responsible for maximizing equipment performance through fault finding, preventative maintenance and operational support. The role is split approximately making it ideal for mechanically minded engineers.

Key Responsibilities - Production Maintenance Engineer

  • Operational maintainenanace of  high-speed automated packing and production lines
  • Carry out first-line mechanical fault finding and repairs to minimise downtime
  • Diagnose equipment issues and deliver first-fix solutions where possible
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities
  • Maintain and replace bearings, motors, belts, chains and gearboxes
  • Support the maintenance of conveyors, pumps and pneumatic systems
  • Respond to breakdowns and carry out root cause investigations
  • Work closely with production teams to achieve challenging output targets
  • Support continuous improvement, OEE and waste reduction initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, LOTO and site safety procedures
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and equipment documentation
  • Drive reliability and operational effectiveness across production lines

Experience / Qualifications - Production Maintenance Engineer

  • NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification essential.
  • Strong mechanical maintenance background within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience fault finding on automated production, packaging or process equipment.
  • Knowledge of bearings, gearboxes, motors, conveyors, pumps and pneumatics.
  • Understanding of preventative maintenance and breakdown response.
  • Ability to identify root causes and implement long-term solutions.
  • Experience within FMCG, food, pharmaceutical, packaging or manufacturing environments advantageous.
  • Ex-Forces engineering backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work within a fast-paced production environment.
  • Basic electrical awareness would be beneficial.

Shift Patterns

3 Shift Rotation

  • Monday to Friday: 6am to 2pm
  • Monday to Friday: 2pm to 10pm
  • Sunday to Thursday: 10pm to 6am

4 on 4 off

  • 6am to 6pm Days
  • 6pm to 6am Nights

Candidates must be flexible to work either shift pattern depending on business requirements.

NVQ Level 3/City and guilds 236 Part 1 + 2 or equivalent in electrical installation/Maintenance. City and Guilds 18th Edition.AM2 / 2391

On Offer – Mobile Maintenance Electrician

£41,324.95 (Inclusive of Standby (1:4 x 13 Periods) & Competency Payment) + overtime + travel timeIncludes a £1,500 competency payment will be added to the basic salary upon completion of electrical fault training for catering and bakery equipment.
