We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Toolmaker to join a well-established and growing manufacturing business. This role sits within the Tool Room and plays a key part in supporting production through the design, manufacture, maintenance, and improvement of tooling.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to meet production and quality targets.

Key Responsibilities – Senior Toolmaker

• Design and manufacture jigs, fixtures, tools, electrodes, and prototype tooling.
• Produce and optimise CNC programs using CAD/CAM software and toolpath generation.
• Operate toolroom machinery including CNC, EDM, milling, turning, and grinding equipment.
• Carry out maintenance, repair, and modification of plastic injection mould tools.
• Lead complex tooling breakdown and repair activities, particularly using EDM machinery.
• Prioritise and manage workload to meet production deadlines and quality standards.
• Assemble, fit, and align tooling components to precise tolerances.
• Inspect finished components using precision measuring equipment to ensure compliance.
• Implement tooling design changes to support engineering and production improvements.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and ensure compliance.
• Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the toolroom.
• Provide technical support to internal departments and assist with project work.
• Support the Toolroom Supervisor when required, including covering absence.
• Monitor toolroom consumables, raw materials, and coordinate external services.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment in line with Health & Safety regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements – Senior Toolmaker

• Time-served Toolmaker or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in toolmaking within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience in injection mould tool repair and modification.
• Skilled in bench fitting and precision assembly.
• Experience with CNC machining, EDM, milling, turning, and grinding.
• Knowledge of CAD/CAM systems and CNC programming.
• Strong understanding of health and safety in a toolroom environment.
• Ability to manage workload and work to tight deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work across departments.
• Experience supporting or mentoring others is desirable.
