Role Overview – Draughts person
We’re supporting a long‑established engineering and manufacturing business in Worcestershire as they look to appoint a Draughts person to join their engineering function. This position plays a key role in producing precise factory layouts and supporting the design of high‑voltage bus bar systems for specialist industrial equipment.
The company supplies complex equipment into metal processing and heavy‑industry environments, and this role is ideal for someone who enjoys technical drawing, problem‑solving, and working closely with engineers across mechanical, electrical, and production disciplines.

Key Responsibilities – Draughtsperson
- Producing factory layout drawings using CAD software, ensuring safe and efficient positioning of equipment and ancillary systems.
- Working closely with engineering, purchasing, and sales colleagues to gather information and develop accurate layouts.
- Ensuring all designs comply with applicable safety standards, industrial regulations, and ergonomic considerations.
- Supporting project planning by developing timelines, estimates, and documentation for layout and installation activities.
- Maintaining accurate technical records, revision histories, and drawing documentation.
- Assisting in the design and development of high‑voltage bus bar systems, producing manufacturing drawings and supporting calculations.
- Performing electrical load, thermal and current‑rating calculations to support bus bar design decisions.
- Providing technical troubleshooting support during manufacturing and installation phases to help resolve layout and equipment issues.
- Producing preliminary layouts for the sales team to support pre‑sales engineering work.
Key Experience & Qualifications – Draughts person
- Experience producing technical drawings and layouts using CAD software.
- Understanding of mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering principles.
- Experience with high‑voltage or high‑current systems is advantageous.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Strong organisational and documentation skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good problem‑solving ability and confidence supporting engineering discussions.
- Comfortable communicating with colleagues across engineering, manufacturing, and sales.
