Role Overview - Mechanical Design Engineer

Are you a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer looking to work on complex, high‑performance engineering systems? This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading organisation in the advanced engineering sector as they continue to innovate and strengthen their product development capability.

In this role, you’ll design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for high‑precision test equipment, while also improving existing products and providing technical support across the business. You’ll work on‑site in Worcester, collaborating closely with engineering, production, commissioning, sales and customer‑facing teams to deliver reliable, high‑quality mechanical solutions.

Key Responsibilities – Mechanical Design Engineer

  • Designing mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks and engineering analysis tools.
  • Creating and updating drawings, specifications, manuals and BOMs.
  • Improving existing designs to enhance performance, durability and manufacturability.
  • Supporting production during build, testing and installation activities.
  • Providing engineering input to customer enquiries and proposal work.
  • Assisting with commissioning and resolving technical issues across the product lifecycle.
  • Maintaining up‑to‑date engineering knowledge and contributing new ideas to improve processes and products.

Key Experience & Qualifications – Mechanical Design Engineer

  • HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related).
  • Around 5 years’ experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Strong SolidWorks skills for modelling and drawings.
  • Experience with PLM systems, FEA/CFD and engineering analysis tools (e.g. ANSYS, ProMechanica).
  • Understanding of mechanical principles including materials, thermodynamics, kinematics and mechanics.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Manufacturing experience is desirable.
