Our client is a leading figurehead in the UK food sector, with an unparalleled pedigree dating back to the early 18th century. They are currently seeking a Senior ABAP Developer to join their team busy SAP Development Team.

Job Role – Senior SAP ABAP Developer

Reporting to the Development Operations Manager the Senior ABAP Developer shall design and develop robust, high-performance code that meets stringent quality standards, ensuring successful delivery of both projects and BAU solutions. Lead a team of ABAP developers with excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
Duties – Senior SAP ABAP Developer

• Design & Development: Produce high-quality OO ABAP solutions, including classes, interfaces, and frameworks, ensuring performance, maintainability, and adherence to coding standards.
• Functional Translation: Collaborate with functional consultants to translate requirements into technical specifications and deliver developments across various functional modules.
• S/4HANA & BTP Expertise: Previous experience working on S/4HANA migration projects, including the ability to propose solutions and support path-clearing activities.
• Working knowledge of SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) environments
• HANA-compatible ABAP (e.g., CDS views, AMDP, Open SQL for HANA) using the Eclipse-based ABAP Development Tools (ADT).
• Ability to translate web applications using BTP Build Apps and leverage Process Automation tools to streamline workflows and enhance user experience.
• Performance & Quality: Conduct performance analysis and optimization (SQL/ABAP runtime), feasibility checks, peer reviews, unit tests, and author comprehensive technical documentation.
• BAU & Projects: Support BAU incidents and requests and deliver enhancements and project features on time with strong stakeholder communication.
• Best Practices & Innovation: Stay current with SAP ABAP best practices and emerging technologies; propose and adopt relevant advancements to improve solution quality and developer productivity.
• Agile methodologies: Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and ability to lead development sprints by creating and managing boards, workflows, custom fields, and permissions.
• Configuring epics, stories, and tasks for SAP development projects.
• Cross Team Collaboration: Work closely with Basis, Functional, and Integration teams (CPI) to ensure end to end solution integrity

Experience/Qualifications – Senior SAP ABAP Developer

• Ability to design and develop robust, high performance code leading to successful project and BAU outcomes.
• Experience in SAP Fiori/UI5 development using BTP Business Application Studio (BAS).
• Exposure to integration (IDoc, RFC, OData, CPI) and performance tuning on HANA.
