CNC Turner (Nights)

Salary – Up to £50,000 per annum dependent on experience
Key Responsibilities – CNC Turner (Nights)
This role provides the business with the running of one or more CNC machines in their Cell. The CNC Turner (Nights) will be responsible for crafting and maintaining precision parts and components, which are crucial in industries such as aerospace and defence.
- Setting and operating of CNC lathes to prove out first off and production, in line with customer requirement and specification.
- Supporting our production engineers and programmers, by setting up new tools and creating datum reference points to ensure smooth running of the machine.
- Oversees machinery setup to make sure arrangement is safe and ready to handle its assigned load
- Safely load and unload raw materials into the CNC machines.
- Identifies solutions for process improvement (adjustments to speed, tool paths, cut, and other factors)
- Performs work by following the company's operating standards, procedures and instructions from shift leads/shift manager
- Regularly inspects machines to the machine check sheets
- Examine machinery production output to verify the product is acceptable to move onto the next part of the production process
- Maintains and updates records about the machine's operations
- Isolate and potentially quarantine any piece that may not conform to customer specification and report accordingly.
- Escalate any issues with NC tool paths to the responsible Team Leader or Line manager.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Manual and/or hand finishing of machined components
- Support ‘goods out’ by packaging machined components ready for dispatch.
- Comply to quality standards and customer specification by setting gauges and utilising manual measuring instruments appropriately.
- Troubleshoot problems during production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards
Qualifications & Requirements – CNC Turner (Nights)
- GCSE’s or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Engineering qualification preferably craft apprenticeship or equivalent.
- CNC programming and machine competence. (Fanuc operating system)
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to be able to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of machining exotic metals such as Duplex or Super Duplex (nice to have)
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardised situations.
- Experience of working in aerospace sectors (AS 9100)
- Experience of Fasteners industry (nice to have)
