Role Overview - Commercial Engineer

Join a leading precision engineering specialist serving the aerospace and energy sectors. We are recruiting a proactive Commercial Engineer to lead customer estimating, deliver accurate quotations, and provide commercial support to the engineering Cost of Sales function. This is a key role for an organised professional with a strong understanding of CNC machining processes, ready to drive cost efficiencies and support new business acquisition in a dynamic team environment.

Key Responsibilities - Commercial Engineer

  • Lead the preparation of customer quotations using best-practice estimating methods.
  • Manage estimating workflows and coordinate activities within the small estimating team.
  • Provide commercial input to engineering Cost of Sales, analysing data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Review lessons learned from COS data and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to source materials to exact customer specifications.
  • Support the engineering team to meet tight deadlines and customer demands.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation in line with the company BMS.

Key Skills & Qualifications – Commercial Engineer

  • Solid understanding of precision engineering processes, CNC machining, tooling, and fixtures.
  • Proven experience in cost estimation for machined components and delivering cost-saving projects.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage workload in a small team.
  • Excellent problem-solving, planning, and communication abilities; PC literate.
  • Commitment to quality, accuracy, continuous improvement, and customer-focused outcomes.
  • Team-oriented with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and support colleagues.
