Role Overview - Mechanical Engineer
Our client is a forward-thinking company renowned for delivering innovative engineering solutions for demanding environments. Their products excel in extreme conditions, including high-pressure, high-temperature, and high-vibration settings, serving industries such as oil & gas and geothermal energy.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of advanced mechanical systems, with a focus on rotary steerable drilling tools. You will work with state-of-the-art technologies, including control systems, hydraulics, dynamics, motors, sensors, electronics, and software.
Key Responsibilities – Mechanical Engineer
- Design and develop mechanical assemblies, validated through detailed calculations.
- Review and approve engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Create test setups and conduct experiments to support design validation.
- Participate in hands-on testing in the production environment.
- Produce thorough documentation, including design reports, test summaries, manufacturing specifications, and user manuals.
- Support manufacturing by addressing supplier queries promptly.
- Organize and prioritize workload to meet project objectives efficiently.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as required.
Key Experience & Qualifications – Mechanical Engineer
- Degree Educated in a Mechanical Engineering discipline or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of materials, their properties, and surface coatings.
- Proficiency in performing static Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Ability to specify dynamic FEA and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) studies and interpret results.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes for mechanical components.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Experience in the oilfield industry, particularly with downhole tools.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD software, ideally Creo.
