Our client is currently seeking a Special Risk Site Manager to join their Special Risk department. This position will report directly to the Special Risk Associate Director. While the role is presently based in Ellesmere Port, the location is subject to change depending on the needs of upcoming projects and may be based at various sites across the UK.

Key Responsibilities - Special Risk Site Manager

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical fire protection, gas suppression, and fire detection systems.
  • Supervise site installation sub-contractors, ensuring safe working practices and compliance with approved method statements and risk assessments. This includes conducting site inspections, monitoring site housekeeping, managing work permits, tracking progress, verifying adherence to construction drawings, and directing operatives.
  • Deliver regular site safety toolbox talks to the site team.
  • Maintain consistent communication with client representatives on-site, participating in progress meetings, safety meetings, inspections, planning sessions, snagging reviews, and other related activities.
  • Liaise regularly with the project team and management to ensure alignment and progress.
  • Conduct routine snagging inspections of installations and complete all related documentation.
  • Carry out regular safety checks on site equipment and complete the required checklists.
  • Work flexibly across multiple sites within the UK, with frequent travel as required.

  Qualifications & Requirements - Special Risk Site Manager- Electrical

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Site Manager on fire alarm and detection system projects, or other electrically-based systems-ideally with exposure to the industrial construction sector.
  • Proficient in the use of IT software, particularly Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Solid understanding of electrical installation practices and methods.
  • Strong working knowledge of fire detection products, alarm system design, commissioning, and cause and effect testing.
  • Familiarity with BS 5839:2017 standards.
  • Valid SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) qualification.
  • Good understanding of health and safety protocols within a construction environment.
  • Possession of a full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Knowledge of BS 6266:2011, BS 7273, and BS 8519:2020 standards.
  • Familiarity with the IEE 18th Edition of the Electrical Installation Regulations.
  • Understanding of ATEX regulations and mechanical water-based fire protection systems.
  • Experience in performing cable insulation resistance testing.
  • Basic awareness of both water- and gas-based fire suppression systems.
