Role: Machine Shop Supervisor

Location: Gloucester

Salary: £35,500 - £40,500

Hours: 7:30am - 4pm (1pm Friday Finish)

My market leading engineering client is looking for a Machine shop supervisor to join their team in Gloucester, to work across diverse, high-impact industries such as aerospace, defence, and high-performance automotive.

As Machine Shop Supervisor, you will lead and supervise the team, ensuring all objectives and standards are met in a timely and efficient manner. You will directly oversee the production department, consisting of Team Leaders and skilled team members, ensuring their day-to-day responsibilities are carried out effectively.

This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams including Production Planning, Process Engineering, and Quality Engineering to continually drive and improve performance. You will be responsible for driving the Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People performance of your team, with a focus on meeting key performance indicators (KPIs).

Key Responsibilities 

  • Supervise team and ensure that day-to-day responsibilities are completed in a timely manner and in line with organisational objectives.
  • Motivate team and drive good attitude and practice in line with shopfloor behaviour standards.
  • Coordinate with cross functional teams to develop and improve overall performance, by recognising and troubleshooting problems to reduce any impact on performance and quality standards.
  • Lead the development of your Production team to strengthen and enhance our capabilities.
  • Drive the Operational performance of your area of responsibility – focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People.
  • Drive the efficiency of Production process, implementing optimisation opportunities in alignment with other operational KPI’s.
  • Routinely report Production KPI’s.
  • Ensure the strict adherence to Standard Operating Instructions for all production activities, particularly in relation to Health & Safety and Quality.
  • Drive the effective utilisation of the IFS ERP system from a Production perspective and ensure that all Production data is properly maintained in a ‘clean’ condition.
  • Drive the housekeeping performance for your area of responsibility, maintaining a clean, tidy and organised workspace that supports good Health & Safety practice.
  • Liaise with all other functions of the organisation as needed to drive operational performance and effectiveness.
  • Support the annual external and internal audit schedule.

 

Qualifications & Requirements 

  • Previous Team Leader / Supervisor / Managment experince within and engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Previous CNC or Machine Shop experince would be benefical
