Working with a well-established engineering company who are now on the lookout for an experienced Production Manager to join their ever-growing team based just off the M32.
Key Responsibilities – Production Manager
- Collaboration with senior management in the development of long-term strategic goals, operational,
- performance and HSE goals.
- Continuous improvement of customer quality and delivery performance measured by internal scorecard, customer OTIF and customer scorecards.
- Work with Production Control team to create a robust plan and then deliver the plan.
- Work with Commercial and Production Control to validate the production plan, gearing up capacity and level loading where possible.
- Financial performance and improvement actions to achieve business and departmental budgets
- Delivering improvement to Business ‘Financial & Operational KPI’s’.
- Improvement of operational performance by the effective deployment of resources i.e. labour, equipment and methods, demonstrated by the application of KPIs i.e. Standard hour performance, capacity planning and overall equipment effectiveness in line with business and departmental targets.
- Effective communication processes, to ensure ‘SMART’ information is available at point of use in a timely manner such as Production meetings, team meetings, production plans / Schedules, team boards
- Continuous improvement activity and elimination of wastes supporting labour productivity, equipment capacity, productivity, efficiency and cost reduction by applying best practice ‘LEAN’ techniques, including cellularisation techniques, HS&E and 6S.
- Co-ordination with supporting departments i.e. Purchasing, Engineering, NPI, Business development,
- Commercial, Finance etc. to achieve departmental, business and customer expectations.
- Develop department and team skills in line with business requirements through the management of Skills Matrices, effective Personal Development Review (PDR) deployment and succession planning.
- Management of Team Leaders, assisting them in manufacturing performance, booking / clocking
- adherence, KPI’s and objective performance, RFT, scrap level reductions, training needs and process
- improvements.
- Setting and agreeing of company and departmental measures to monitor the level of
- progress/improvement and drive changes as required e.g. OTIF, Right First Time, Zero Defects, Produced Hours and providing leadership and support in their delivery
- Drive initiatives in the organization to contribute to long-term operational excellence.
- You may be required to work alternative shifts / hours.
- You may be required to perform any other reasonable duties/specific projects from time to time and as directed by management.
Qualifications & Experience – Production Manager
- Strong organisational and excellent communication skills – a people person able to
- motivate and coach teams
- Good knowledge of Production/manufacturing machinery, technologies and processes relating
- to a machining environment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Ability to solve complex manufacturing problems, using LEAN tools, 6S and cellular techniques
- Excellent IT skills (MS Office)
- Previous operational management experience in an engineering business
- Ability to drive the team to achieve the result
- Commercially astute, supporting the business in the achievement of its growth and financial targets
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Conversant with ISO9001 and Quality Management Systems
