  • Develop and maintain HMI systems to improve operator interaction.
  • Ensure automation and electrical control systems operate safely and efficiently.

Hands-On Engineering Support

  • Provide practical, shop‑floor engineering support for automated systems.
  • Work closely with the Mechanical Engineer on system improvements and mechanical/electrical integration tasks.
  • Support with hands-on adjustments, calibration, panel work, and equipment setup.

Process Optimisation & Performance

  • Monitor equipment performance and KPIs to identify improvements in throughput and efficiency.
  • Recommend and implement automation enhancements that support production targets.
  • Encourage continuous improvement across safety, quality, and operational output.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Assist with fault finding and corrective maintenance of automation/robotic equipment when required.
  • Support the upkeep of electrical and control systems to ensure consistent operation.

Essential Skills, Qualifications & Experience - Automation & Robotics Engineer

  • Strong electrical and electromechanical knowledge, including 3‑phase power, AC/DC drives, servo systems, motors, sensors, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Hands-on experience working with automated machinery, robotic systems, and control equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • PLC programming experience and knowledge of industrial communication networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus).
  • ABB robot programming and integration experience.
  • Ability to interpret and create wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and control documentation.
  • Good understanding of industrial safety standards, including LOTO and safety circuits (e.g. Pilz).
  • Confident working independently and making sound engineering decisions on the shop floor.

What’s on Offer - Automation & Robotics Engineer

  • A highly hands-on engineering role with autonomy and technical variety.
  • The opportunity to shape and strengthen automation capabilities during a period of major investment.
  • A supportive environment where engineering ideas are valued and implemented.
  • Ongoing development across robotics, electrical controls, and automation technologies.
