Job Title: Logistics Supervisor
Pay: Up to £36,000 DOE
Location: Gloucester
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday–Friday
Reports To: Stores & Logistics Manager
Direct Reports: Stores Team
Role Summary
My client a dynamic organization is looking for a logistics supervisor to join their team in Gloucester. To work across diverse, high-impact industries such as aerospace, defence, and high-performance automotive. This includes inbound and outbound goods handling, internal logistics, inventory accuracy, forklift fleet coordination, and waste disposal. The role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant daily operations that support production flow and delivery performance. This is a hands-on position in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, suited to an organised, detail-driven leader who enjoys developing people and improving processes.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise the logistics team to ensure daily activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with SQDCP (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People) targets.
- Support the ongoing development of the team to strengthen logistics capability and flexibility.
- Manage attendance in line with company Absence Management procedures.
- Manage conduct and performance using the company Disciplinary procedures as required.
- Foster a positive, engaging and productive team culture.
- Conduct performance reviews and set annual team objectives aligned with operational goals.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to company HSE standards, including Process, COSHH and Environmental risk assessments.
- Maintain strict compliance with Standard Operating Instructions, especially regarding Health & Safety and Quality.
- Oversee 5S/housekeeping activities to maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Complete Logistics Audits as required.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring accurate, efficient flow of materials.
- Identify and resolve logistics issues promptly, implementing corrective and preventative actions.
- Ensure effective utilisation of logistics resources to support world-class operational performance.
- Maintain stock accuracy through strong process discipline and adherence to inventory control procedures.
- Ensure accurate, ‘clean’ data within the IFS ERP system and effective use of Time & Attendance systems.
- Support delivery of annual objectives and KPI targets for the logistics function.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within logistics.
- Communicate effectively with all departments to support production and overall operational performance.
Other Responsibilities
- Build strong working relationships with the wider site management team.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by the company.
Key Skills & Experience
- Significant supervisory experience within a manufacturing or warehouse logistics or stores environment.
- Strong experience using ERP systems, ideally IFS.
- Detailed understanding of inventory control, shipping processes and warehouse safety standards.
