Component Manager
Omega is on the lookout for an experienced Component Engineer or Component Manager to lead our clients Component Engineering Team, influencing and directing the course of reviews, development, and maintaining our compliance processes within the Team.
Hybrid: 2 days on-site
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national.
With increased volatility in all commodity markets, especially in electronics, this has opened up and interesting and somewhat niche opportunity with one of the UKS leading Defence organisations.
You will manage the pro-active and reactive obsolescence status of thousands of components that are used in product portfolio, equiptment designs, and supporting customers to manage identified challenges within their designs.
A team of Component Engineers are available to assist in the collection of all related data using their relationship with all of our suppliers.
Working alongside this team, you will be responsible for both regular and ad hoc reporting on obsolescence component statuses.
As the Obsolescence/Component Manager you will be in a unique position with regular contact to all relative teams across the whole product portfolio. You will use this to influence the use of correct, coordinated and robust, obsolescence mangement across the organisation.
There will also be an expectation for you to share your knowledge and expertise to others, including participating in design reviews, training and other development activities, as appropriate, to help maintain the companies capability.
There is also the opportunity to support and lead international obsolescence initiatives, helping define best practice and manage the adoption and adherence of agreed methodologies across the teams on an international scale.
What we're looking for from you:
- Knowledge and experience with obsolescence management, tools and techniques.
- Experience or knowledge around the requirements of BS 62402:2001
- Excellent communication skills to facilitate regular face to face and electronic communications with all relevant stakeholders.
- The ability to write clear and concise engineering documentation.
- Knowledge / experience of tools such as Matrix PLM, SAP, Silicon Expert, IHS etc
