Job Role: Machine Tool Fitter

We are currently recruiting for a Machine Tool Fitter to join our client in Leicester. They are a manufacturing company specialising in precision toolmaking for injection moulding.
We are looking for a hardworking candidate, ideally with previous experience working within a steel or aluminium manufacturing environment, using CNC machines. Toolroom experience would be ideal.

As a Machine Tool Fitter you will be responsible for fitting and assembling injection mould tools to precise specifications. Your role will involve operating EDM and manual machines, inspecting components using precision equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. You will support the production of high-quality mould tools and contribute to the smooth running of the toolroom.

We are also open to speaking with more senior candidates who may already have toolmaking or injection moulding experience.

Salary is dependable on experience.

Job responsibilities of an Machine Tool Fitter:

  • Assemble and finish injection mould tools in accordance with technical drawings and customer specifications, ensuring high-quality standards are met
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of existing tooling to ensure continued operational performance
  • Operate and maintain Electrical Discharge Machines (EDM) to produce complex mould components with precision and accuracy
  • Carry out milling, turning, grinding, and other machining operations to produce or modify parts according to the design requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Utilize a range of precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, verniers, height gauges) to inspect components and ensure dimensional accuracy

An ideal candidate for the Machine Tool Fitter would have:

  • Proven experience in injection mould tool fitting or a similar toolroom-based role
  • Proficient in the use of manual machining equipment and EDM machinery
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity with inspection and measurement tools
  • A commitment to health, safety, and continuous improvement practices

Candidates who have previously worked as a Toolmaker, Toolroom Technician, Injection Mould Tool Fitter, Mould Tool Assembler, Precision Tool Fitter, Toolroom Engineer, Tooling Technician, CNC Tooling Engineering, CNC Toolroom Technician, Tooling Machinist, Mechanical Fitter, Tooling Assistant, Apprentice Toolmaker may have suitable skills for this role.
