You will be responsible for managing manufacturing and maintenance activities and overseeing the development and implementation of engineering initiatives to improve all elements of OEE (overall equipment effectiveness) and people development.

  • Leading the engineering technical agenda for the Site, including all the maintenance activities to improve line performance, World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles - TPM
  • Change management, leadership and stakeholder engagement
  • Drive engineering performance improvements, manage multi-million-pound budgets and lead your teams to strive for world-class engineering & Maintenance excellence
  • Responsible for setting the engineering strategy, leading engineering activities, and maximising production through maintenance of site assets

Key Responsibilities - Site Engineering Manager - Manufacturing

  • Ensure engineering resources (people/headcount) and technical skill set are maximised
  • Develop autonomous maintenance programmes - subject matter expert in maintenance
  • Continuous improvement and reengineering in everything you do - support and lead the organisational change programme
  • You will create, implement, and manage the engineering maintenance strategy
  • Monitor operational efficiency of all plant and equipment, identifying areas of under-performance or opportunity and implementing plans to deliver improvement
  • You will ensure that the productive capability of the plant is optimised and improved
  • You will create, implement and manage both maintenance and PPM plans
  • Drive the engineering maintenance function to provide good manufacturing processes that comply with Health & Safety Standards
  • Prioritise health and safety, ensuring compliance with legislative standards and fostering a safe working environment for the maintenance team, understanding of PUWER, LOLER, PSSR and EAW regulations
  • Implement and oversee preventative maintenance programs
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and problem-solving techniques (e.g., TPM, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen)

Qualifications and Requirements - Site Engineering Manager - Manufacturing

  • Experience in leading technical frontline maintenance, services, and project teams
  • Track record of using advanced manufacturing techniques (E.g. WCM/TPM/Lean)
  • HNC/HND within an engineering discipline, minimum, ideally a time-served apprentice engineer as you will be leading the line
  • Background in engineering management within a time-sensitive, 24/7 complex manufacturing environment
  • Lean Manufacturing experience and Knowledge - RCM/TPM
  • Demonstrating experience within a Manufacturing / Process engineering environment in an engineering maintenance leadership role
  • Ideally recognised safety management qualification (NEBOSH/IOSH)
  • Proven experience in maintenance management and leadership
  • Track record of delivering continuous improvement and engineering performance
  • You will set the standard, vision, pace and strategy on a large site
  • Engineering leadership in a manufacturing environment - open to industry, as long as it's manufacturing or automated or chemical processing
  • Atex and DSEAR experience would be ideal
