Job Title: Maintenance Engineer
Location: Birmingham, UK
Working Hours: Continental Shifts, 4 on 4 off (2x12 hour days: 6am - 6pm, 2x12 hour nights: 6pm - 6am)
Contract Type: Permanent

Our client are currently looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join their team. As a maintenance engineer you will diagnose faults, repair equipment, improve systems, support maintenance, and ensure reliability.

Key Responsibilities: Maintenance Engineer

  • Deliver high-standard multi-skilled engineering support, working safely independently or in a team.

  • Reduce production losses, energy, and waste.

  • Diagnose and repair equipment faults to ensure safe operation, reliability, and availability.

  • Implement continuous improvement to eliminate equipment failures.

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute installation and plant improvement projects.

  • Support planned maintenance schedules, follow up on repairs, source spares, and complete audit-standard documentation.

  • Communicate with suppliers to chase outstanding orders.

  • Provide shift cover, including factory start-up/shutdown when required.

  • Specify and procure critical spares and create requisitions.

  • Report equipment issues, follow-up works, and spares requirements to the Shift Plant Engineer for inclusion in shift reports.

  • Maintain high housekeeping standards.

  • Support work requests outside the immediate role.

  • Perform additional duties to support engineering operations as needed.

Experience and Qualifications: Maintenance Engineer

  • Experience with heavy motorised and hydraulic plant.

  • Experience in steam generation, boiler house operation, and high-pressure fluid systems.

  • Mechanical and electrical experience

  • BTEC or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
