Role Purpose

We are seeking a skilled, practical technician to manufacture and assemble high-quality cryogenic products. This is a hands-on role with a strong emphasis on precision welding, soldering, brazing and mechanical assembly. The successful candidate will produce neat, accurate and leak-tight assemblies from stainless steel, copper and other materials, working carefully to engineering drawings and defined quality standards.

Experience in TIG welding, soft soldering and silver brazing/hard soldering would be highly advantageous. However, we will also consider candidates with strong mechanical aptitude, excellent attention to detail and a genuine willingness to learn specialist cryogenic manufacturing techniques.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacture and assemble nitrogen and helium transfer lines, vacuum components, pipework and other related cryogenic products.Carry out high-quality TIG welding, particularly on thin-wall stainless-steel components and tube assemblies.Perform accurate soft soldering and silver brazing/hard soldering on copper, brass, stainless steel and mixed-material assemblies.Assemble small, delicate and close-tolerance components with a high level of care and precision.Fit tubes, flanges, connectors, vacuum fittings and mechanical components in accordance with drawings and specifications.Use jigs, fixtures, gauges and measuring equipment to maintain alignment and dimensional accuracy.Carry out tube preparation, forming, bending and fitting where required.Inspect welds, soldered joints and completed assemblies for workmanship, conformity and leaks.Diagnose and rectify leaks, poor joints, misalignment and other manufacturing defects.Read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of materials and manufacturing instructions.Contribute to improvements in welding methods, assembly processes, tooling and product quality.

Essential Skills and Experience

Practical experience in welding, soldering, brazing, precision assembly or mechanical fabrication.Good hand skills and the ability to carry out detailed, controlled work.Strong mechanical fitting and assembly capability.Experience using workshop hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment.Ability to read and work from engineering drawings.Ability to work accurately with small components and close-tolerance assemblies.A methodical approach to joint preparation, assembly and inspection.Willingness to learn specialist cryogenic and vacuum manufacturing processes.

Highly Desirable Skills

A well-established UK manufacturer producing precision-moulded components for the construction industry is seeking an experienced Injection Moulding Setter to join its production team based in Trafford Park, Manchester.

This company is embarking on an exciting transformation journey, investing in its people, processes, and equipment to enhance quality and efficiency across its manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimising production and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Set, monitor, and optimise injection moulding machines for efficient production cyclesComplete tool changeovers and material setups safely and effectivelyConduct basic mechanical fault finding and troubleshootingOperate forklifts to transport raw materials and tools (training can be provided)Maintain tooling and masterbatch storage areas in a safe and organised conditionSupport production with clear shift handovers and accurate record keepingWork collaboratively with the Factory Manager to identify and implement process improvementsPromote best practices in health, safety, and housekeeping across all areas

Qualifications / Experience:

Proven experience working in plastics injection moulding (minimum 2 years preferred)Skilled in setting a variety of moulding machines, robots, sprue pickers, and granulatorsConfident communicator with a proactive, team-oriented approachMechanically minded, with the ability to fault find and suggest improvementsIMT Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) - desirableStrong attention to detail with a "slow down to speed up" mindsetIT literate and comfortable completing shift documentationMotivated, reliable, and committed to continuous improvement

Hours:

Full-time, Monday to Friday3 rotating shifts - 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm / 10pm-6am

Role:

The Stores Person is responsible to execute product and material handling and movement within the warehouse in compliance with established policies, procedures, and standards. They inspect and accept incoming shipments against supplier packing lists, ensuring items have been received in a satisfactory state.

Duties:

Perform inspecting, labelling, receiving, storing, picking, packing, issuing, disposal and cycle counting of inventory items.Accept supplier deliveries, checking that actual item received are in suitable condition and match the packing list and/or purchase order and report discrepancies in a timely manner.Ensure outgoing items are suitably packed and issued with correct and complete documentation.Improve efficiency and safety by optimizing warehouse bin locations.Maintain a high level of housekeeping within the warehouse and shipping/receiving areas.Perform inventory cycle counting and support periodic physical counts.Investigate and resolve local inventory and warehouse issues as requested by the Supervisor.Operate a forklift or other materials handling equipment upon completion of training and certification.

Skills/Experience:

Experience working in stores environmentForklift Licence would be beneficial but not essentialExperience of MRP Systems would be beneficial

Qualifications / Desired Characteristics

Essential:

Minimum five years' manufacturing leadership experience within aerospace, defence or another highly regulated industry.Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with demonstrable skills in teamwork and collaboration including strong oral and written communication skillsStrong problem solving and analytical skills.Working knowledge of AS9100, Lean Manufacturing, Root Cause Analysis and production planning.Work out of your comfort, ask questions and develop yourself (with support).Proven functional experience of the manufacture (Assembly & Test) of hydro-mechanical and electronic products and appropriate manufacturing tools and equipment.Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as Syteline or SAP.
