A leading manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Production Engineer to join its engineering team. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes, ensuring operational efficiency, product quality, and cost-effective production.

Working closely with cross-functional teams, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in optimising manufacturing operations, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting new product introductions from concept through to full production.

Key Responsibilities – Production Engineer Process Development & Continuous Improvement: Develop and improve manufacturing processes to achieve high levels of quality, cost efficiency, and delivery performance (QCD).Review and optimise manufacturing methods, tooling, and materials to support cost reduction initiatives.Lead continuous improvement activities across manufacturing operations.Support quality investigations and implement robust root cause corrective actions.Lead and facilitate continuous improvement teams focused on operational performance. Manufacturing Engineering & Documentation: Create, maintain, and manage key process documentation, including PFMEAs, Control Plans, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.Develop and support manufacturing processes for new and existing products.Support the integration of BOMs, routing structures, and ERP system requirements.Assist with manufacturing cost assessments and process validation activities.Conduct component and process reviews to support tooling, equipment, and production readiness. Production & Project Support: Support engineering and manufacturing teams in delivering projects and operational objectives.Drive Design for Manufacture (DFM) activities throughout the product development lifecycle.Support risk assessments and process capability studies.Assist with project development activities and engineering reviews.Lead or support prototype, trial, and pre-production builds where required.Provide ongoing manufacturing support to ensure a smooth transition into full production. Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance: Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with company Health & Safety policies.Adhere to Environmental and 5S standards across all manufacturing activities.Promote safe working practices and continuous workplace organisation improvements. Qualifications & Requirements – Production Engineer Minimum of 5 years' experience within a manufacturing or production engineering environment.Proven track record of delivering manufacturing process improvements.Experience supporting product introductions, process development, and production improvements.Knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, process validation, and manufacturing best practices.Six Sigma experience preferred, with Green Belt or Black Belt qualification advantageous but not essential.Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, hands-on approach.Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead teams through improvement initiatives.Experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Reporting to the QHSE Manager and working closely with the Product Quality Manager, this highly visible role is responsible for driving quality excellence across both internal assembly operations and the external supply chain. The successful candidate will provide hands-on support to production, lead quality improvement activities, develop robust manufacturing controls, and manage supplier quality performance. Key Responsibilities – Quality Engineer:

Provide daily hands-on quality support to the assembly facility, ensuring quality issues are identified, contained, escalated, and resolved effectively.Act as the primary quality contact for production, supporting rapid issue resolution and maintaining manufacturing flow.Lead root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies including 8D, RCA, DMAIC, and 5 Why analysis.Implement and verify corrective and preventative actions to deliver sustainable quality improvements.Perform product inspections and measurement activities to validate conformity against drawings and specifications.

Quality Systems & Process Control:

 

Develop, implement, and maintain process controls including PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and MSA activities.Support and lead Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities for new products and engineering changes.Support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects to ensure quality requirements are achieved during launch and sustained in production.Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 requirements and the company Integrated Management System.Contribute to internal audit programmes and support external audits when required.

Supplier Quality & Continuous Improvement:

Qualify, approve, and develop suppliers through audits, capability assessments, and risk evaluations.Manage supplier non-conformances, ensuring effective containment, investigation, and implementation of corrective actions.Conduct supplier audits and performance reviews, driving improvements in quality, delivery, and overall supplier performance.Work collaboratively with suppliers to reduce variation, scrap, rework, and cost of poor quality.Monitor supplier quality metrics including PPM and COPQ and support supplier improvement programmes.

Leadership & Cross-Functional Support:

Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, R&D, and Supply Chain teams to improve product and process quality.Support customer-specific quality requirements and provide technical guidance to internal teams and suppliers.Provide regular reporting on quality performance, risks, and improvement initiatives.Travel within the UK as required to support supplier and business quality activities.

Qualifications & Requirements – Quality Engineer:

Extensive experience within a lean manufacturing environment, including supplier quality management.HNC or equivalent qualification in Engineering.Strong understanding of ISO 9001 and ideally IATF 16949 quality management systems.Experience managing PPAP processes and supplier approval activities.Proven experience using structured problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5 Why, RCA, and DMAIC.Strong technical understanding of engineering drawings, geometric tolerancing, and measurement techniques.Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).Qualified Lead Auditor with experience conducting supplier, process, and product audits.Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Able to work independently, prioritise workload effectively, and influence stakeholders at all levels.

The Opportunity

Our client, a well-established precision engineering manufacturer based in Gloucester, is seeking experienced CNC Setter/Operators to support continued growth within their Operations team.

Applications are welcomed from candidates with experience in CNC Milling, CNC Routing, or CNC Turning (Lathe) operations, ideally using Haas and Fanuc controls. Successful candidates will join a fast-paced manufacturing environment producing high-precision components for a range of industries including Formula 1, aerospace, defence, automotive, and transport.

Key Responsibilities

Desirable

Engineering apprenticeship, Level 3 NVQ, or City & Guilds qualification in a relevant discipline.Experience machining a range of materials including aluminium, composites and plastics.Experience using inspection equipment such as micrometers, verniers, shadowgraphs and CMM equipment.Understanding of quality assurance and continuous improvement principles.

Working as part of the Series Manufacturing team, the successful candidate will focus on process optimisation, capacity planning, continuous improvement, and supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) activities through to Start of Production (SOP). Key Responsibilities – Industrial Engineer

Documentation & Process Control:

Develop, maintain, and improve standard work documentation, including work instructions, training records, and cycle time standards. Support process documentation updates following engineering and product changes. Ensure manufacturing documentation accurately reflects current production methods and best practices. Support process audits and continuous improvement reviews.

NPI & Product Launch Support:

Support New Product Introduction (NPI) build phases through to Start of Production (SOP). Control and coordinate all phase builds and testing activities alongside NPI Engineers. Participate in hands-on product builds and provide feedback to improve manufacturing readiness. Develop and support manufacturing processes for new products. Ensure the correct availability of components and materials for phase build activities. Support Quality Engineering teams with defect investigations and root cause analysis activities.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance:

Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with company Health & Safety policies and procedures. Adhere to electrical regulations and manufacturing compliance requirements. Support and maintain high standards of housekeeping through 5S methodologies. Promote a safe, organised, and efficient working environment.

Qualifications & Requirements – Industrial Engineer

Degree in Engineering, HNC/HND qualification, or equivalent industry experience. Understanding and practical application of MTM (Methods-Time Measurement). Experience with manufacturing equipment programming, troubleshooting, and investigation. Experience within a manufacturing, production engineering, or industrial engineering environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good literacy, numeracy, and computer skills. Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail. Effective communication skills with the ability to work across multiple teams. Flexible, adaptable, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Methodical and calm approach when working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong team player with a proactive and hands-on working style.
