Works Manager

Location: Malvern

Shift : Day shift

Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 per annum

 

My market-leading client is looking for a Wrks Manager to join their successful team in Malvern.

The successful candidate for the role of Works Manager will be responsible for managing the production team, delivering products and services in-line with scorecard requirements in order to satisfy internal and external customer expectations. Ensuring co-operation and clear communication across all levels within the organisation whilst also responsible for developing Production plan maximising shop floor production and efficiencies.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that customer quality and delivery performance metric are met. Measured by On Time In Full and Right First Time measures

  • Liaising with other sites in the Group to ensure clear reporting of production status

  • Day to day effective deployment of resources i.e. labour, equipment and methods, demonstrated by the application of KPIs i.e. Standard hour performance, capacity planning and overall equipment effectiveness in line with business and departmental targets.

  • Collaboration with senior management in the development of long term strategic goals, operational plans and performance

  • Facilities management to ensure a well maintained, presentable and safe plant.

  • Effective communication processes, to ensure ‘SMART’ information is available at point of use in a timely manner i.e. Production meetings, team meetings, production plans / Schedules, team boards etc.

  • Continuous improvement activity and elimination of wastes supporting labour productivity, equipment capacity, productivity, efficiency and cost reduction by applying best practice ‘LEAN’ techniques.

  • Co-ordination of supporting departments i.e. Purchasing, Engineering, NPI, Business development, Finance etc. to achieve departmental, business and customer expectations.

  • Develop department and team skills in line with business requirements through the management of Skills Matrices, effective Personal Development Review (PDR) deployment and succession planning.

  • Management of production team, assisting them in manufacturing performance, booking / clocking adherence, KPI’s and objective performance, RFT, scrap levels reductions, training needs and process improvements.

  • Setting and agreeing of company and departmental measures to monitor the level of progress/improvement and drive changes as required e.g. OTIF, Right First Time, Zero Defects etc and providing leadership and support in their delivery

  • Drive initiatives in the organization to contribute to long-term operational excellence.

  • You may be required to work alternative shifts / hours

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Previous manufacturing production experience

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong organisational skills

  • Good knowledge of Production/manufacturing machinery and technologies

  • Good knowledge of Production/manufacturing processes

  • Excellent IT skills

  • Great people management skills

 Nice to have's:

  • Knowledge of QMS

  • Previous aerospace experience

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

  • Ability to solve complex manufacturing problems

  • Commercially astute, supporting the business in the achievement of its growth and financial targets
