Profile

Our client is a leading figurehead in the UK food sector, with an unparalleled pedigree dating back to the early 18th century. They are currently seeking a Technical Manager to be part of the Senior Leadership Team and mange food quality and safety for several key facilities.

Duties

-Drive improvements in quality awareness and effectively implement quality improvement projects
-Provide QA input to the long-term strategy of the site
-Create and implement the QA and QC site strategy
-Monitor and report on the site KPI’s related to quality both internally and externally
-Control the customer complaints process and lead the complaints reduction programme
-Lead Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) programme
-Offer best practice advice and solutions to maintain hygiene and house-keeping standards – both people and environment
-Own and maintain quality protocols including Operator PQC checks, Kitchen PQC, Quality Investigation Reports, Metal detection and Pre- start up checks
-Control the collation, reporting and corrective actions of held stock
-Ensure appropriate training is delivered by the Quality Team to all levels of factory personnel
-Deal with specification and non-conforming materials issues as well as isolations, corrective actions, root cause analysis and implementation of preventative measures on site
-Identify Quality / Food Safety best practice and lead and develop QA and innovation teams
-Ensure the implementation and management of robust project management processes, including data management and production trials, to deliver innovation projects to both sites
-Manage the Quality Team, Innovation Team and site hygiene and pest control activities based at Ashford and Andover.
-Represent the site within Central technical and R & D teams, to identify projects and agree implementation plans
-Responsible for managing regulatory contact involving knowledge of food and trading standards legislation – advise on external accreditation requirements including BRC, EHO trading standards
-Manage and co-ordinate site quality system audits
-Effectively manage and minimise risk through implementation of business continuity planning and relevant actions from audits
-Manage activities to meet the Quality and Innovation Team budget
-Be committed to delivering the site culture to provide opportunities through individual and team development, ownership and accountability

Experience and Qualifications

-Experience of managing BRC and Retailer Audits
-Working knowledge of Microbiology
-Corporate membership of appropriate professional body
-Good understanding of the ISO and HACCP quality systems, quality philosophies and techniques
-A proven track record of delivering results against objectives and managing projects requiring cross-functional approaches
