Our client is a leading engineering company based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. They are looking for an experienced Supplier Development Engineer to support the achievement of Purchasing/Supplier Development KPIs by using product, engineering knowledge and data to prioritise both reactive and proactive activities

Your objectives and responsibilities will focus on…

  • Engaging in the SXS UK supplier selection processes to ensure suitable and qualified suppliers are used by SXS UK.
  • Conducting supplier audits in accordance with SXS global standards
  • Engaging with suppliers to promote the Implementation of suitable quality planning and control activities within the supplier site and promote best practice.
  • Analysing supplier performance data to determine opportunities for improvement and related reduction of supplier nonconformity.
  • Utilising problem-solving techniques to identify the causes of non-conformity and implement countermeasures e.g., 8D 
  • Reviewing ‘Lesson Learnt’ and promote & implement the outcomes with suppliers of SXS UK.
  • Training suppliers in the requirements of SXS UK as necessary.
  • Providing technical advice to buyers in support of non-conforming product & disputes.
  • Active and consistent promotion of the company EHS policy across the team and department.

Your previous experience is likely to include…

You will have a demonstrated track record of success of working in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing or production environment

Experienced in ISO 9001 and related quality systems together with experience across supplier management, quality planning and non-conformance management disciplines. You will have a strong understanding of manufacturing process: casting forging, machining, coating, pressing, fabrication, and electronics.

You are likely to have a recognised academic qualification in an engineering or quality related discipline and will be able to demonstrate on-the-job qualifications in a quality related discipline. E.g., Projects, Assignments, Improvement Programmes that have been completed in a quality role.
