Profile

Reporting to the HSE Manager the Site Utilities Manager will be responsible for the Site Utilities area which encompasses the supply of energy, water and compressed air to the 24/7 food manufacturing factory.

Duties

-Ensure that standards and procedures are in place and updated to govern all engineering activities on site including safe working practices, management of contractors, planned maintenance work and assessment of competencies of utilities employees
-Communicate effectively with the operations and engineering teams to ensure daily and weekly priorities are clear and that issues are discussed to prevent downtime, loss and cost, ensuring that any unsolved problems are communicated or escalated
-Positive management of supplier relationships to ensure excellent partnership working
-Application of best practices from across the business at a site level
-Ensure compliance with legislative, moral and European directive requirements in respect of Safety, Quality and Environmental
-Recruit, lead and motivate employees as a first line manager via coaching, regular appraisal mentoring, training and leadership-by-example, with direct responsibility for a named group of employees
-Develop, implement, and maintain a strategy so that the Utilities function is effective, efficient, to budget, managed, well-motivated, flexible and able to adapt to changing production circumstances
-Create, implement, and manage utilities and maintenance budgets for the area, to achieve area and site targets including supplier optimisation and minimal inventories
-Management of the asset register and asset disposal
-To drive a Health and Safety culture on site
-With the site management team, ensure that the productive capability of the plant is optimised and improved for the needs of the business, this includes the provision and use of utilities (gas, water, electricity, compressed air, effluent treatment and removal) while complying with environmental legislation
-Deliver a 5% saving in controllable costs year on year vs pro-rata increase/decrease in site volumes
-Project Management/involvement for projects within the responsible area

Experience and Qualifications

-Understanding of boiler operations is essential to the role, along with knowledge of effluent plant operations
-Demonstrable experience of team management
