Shipping Manager


£35,000 - £45,000


Our client are an established manufacturer based in the Stroud area, they have a range of clients across the globe. Due to a recent sizeable investment, they are looking to expand their current portfolio of products and are seeking a shipping manager to look after the national and international shipping.

Role Brief – Shipping Manager

The shipping manager will be responsible for international logistics and assisting the manufacturing/purchasing team.

Responsibilities – Shipping Manager

  • Effectively manage imports & exports from start to finish

  • Liaise with freight forwarders and shipping operators both domestically and internationally

  • Create commercial invoices and all other shipping documents for all shipments, including labels and certificates or origin when required.

  • Track shipments and update customers as required.

  • Monitor the performance of freight forwarders.

  • Keep up to date with any UK customs changes.

  • Arrange and manage all domestic shipments to and from suppliers.

  • Liaise with internal teams such as accounts and liaise with external customers.

  • Assist with inventory control both physically and on Sage.

  • Assistance with purchasing.

  • Raising PO’s on Sage.

  • Tracking deliveries & supplier performance.

  • Ordering components online as required.

  • Receiving orders into Sage.

  • General administrative duties.

  • Perform any other duties as required. 

Experience/Qualifications – Shipping Manager

  • Knowledge of duties and taxes on imports.

  • Knowledge of import & export customs procedures, specifically for the UK & US is an advantage.

  • The ability to give excellent customer service.

  • Be a team player and happy to help where needed.

  • Be PC literate including software and MS packages.

  • Able to use Excel to an intermediate or advanced level.

  • Knowledge of BREXIT and how it will affect shipments to & from the EU.
