Position: Senior Garage Manager

Location: Cardiff

Salary: £42500 + 30 days of holidays inclusive of BH, pension, life insurance +company bonus

Our client is a well-established commercial vehicle fleet maintenance business with network of 55 garages in UK maintaining a fleet of 80,000 vehicles. As a result of their business growth, they are looking to recruit Senior Garage Manager to work in Cardiff workshop. This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and rewording business that has an exciting and successful future. The suitable candidate will a role model that would lead, inspire, motivate and coach a team of vehicle technicians, service advisor and technician in charge to ensure maximum performance is delivered to meet internal and external customers’ expectations.


  • Run the day-to-day operations of a busy workshop, including setting the continuous improvement (CI) agenda within the garage and ensuring that CI tools and techniques are embedded throughout to ensure process and service optimisation
  • Ensure the company's contractual obligations are met, and staff are managed as per the company's rules and procedures.
  •  Ensuring all SLAs and KPIs are monitored and are being delivered via the workshop staff or third-party suppliers. Optimising vehicle availability, minimising maintenance spend with a primary objective of legislative compliance.
  • Identify opportunities for new business growth within the Garage Services Network and deliver change across workshops.
  • Achieve a profitable and sustainable contribution by maximising own and collective workshop efficiency.
  • Safe, legal and compliant method of work across their garage.  Ensure the health and welfare of the job holder (and his/her team if applicable) in accordance with Health & Safety and Environmental policies.
  • Achieving the monthly productivity targets that are set (by finance) and reviewed from time to time.
  • Setting the standards of compliance, behaviours and work ethics that place the customer at the heart of everything we do. Garage managers should focus on KCI (Keeping the Customer Informed).
  • Ensure that customers’ vehicles are serviced, maintained, and repaired to agreed standards and to planned schedules.
  • Deliver an overall service that meets the existing and rising standards expected by customers.
  • Build and maintain strong local customer relationships and take the network services lead for national account customers.
  • Grow local SMR business by attracting and retaining profitable retail and SME customers.
  • Take a shared responsibility for discharging organisation and its customers operator’s licence obligations with regards to the SMR of their vehicles as defined by DVSA.
  • Responsible for all stock control and maintenance within their garage.
  • Management of (potentially) larger amount of employees / larger work areas (i.e., 24/5 workshops, satellite inclusion, etc.)


  • The appropriate Senior Garage Manger will have an experience of continually analysing cost whilst ensuring they contribute to the development of strategy and processes to improve short-, medium- and long-term performance
  • You will have leadership qualities and abilities to cross manage.
  • Must have technical / professional qualifications: Level 3 NVQ Qualified Automotive, Service and Repair (or equivalent)
  • Must be prepared to travel occasionally throughout UK
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • You will be able to manage time and workload efficiently while having a friendly professional attitude and approach
  • You must have strong managerial skills and be able to prove you can control a workshop of Technicians efficiently
