Senior Fire Systems Design Engineer  

Location: Fully remote working (access to office as needed)  

Employer: Multinational fire detection & alarm specialist  

Salary £40,000 - £55,000

Key Responsibilities 

  • Reviewing client documentation to ascertain the fire detection and alarm system requirements. 

  • Supporting design engineers in the creation of design documentation (drawings, schematics, reports, and electrical calculations). 

  • Reviewing and approving design documentation, ensuring it meets the company and British standards. 

  • Ensuring that workloads are adequately resourced and deadlines for all documentation are met. 

  • Assist in the creation of new company procedures and standards. 

  • In addition, this person will also attend internal and external meetings and offer support to the wider engineering function. 

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following: 

  • Excellent knowledge of relevant British Standards, especially BS5839-1:2017. 

  • Significant experience of designing fire detection and alarm systems. 

  • A Project Management Qualification 

  • Advanced FIA Certification 

  • Experience as a Nominated Designer 

  • Ability to read and understand project specific drawings and specifications. 

  • Experience of leading a small team. 

  • Competent with Office 365 software. 

  • A can-do attitude with a drive for progression. 

Additional skills advantageous to the role include: 

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD. 

  • Nuclear industry experience. 

  • Project Management. 

  • Fire Detection and alarm system commissioning. 

  • Understanding of electrical principles.
