Overview

My client, a bespoke manufacturer, are currently recruiting for a Product Engineer to join their facility in Reading.  The successful Product Engineer will provide engineering and technical support from customer requirement through to production. In a newly created role to the business, you will fulfil a multidisciplinary including aspects of both design and manufacturing engineering. 

 

Product Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering and technical support during design, development and manufacturing stages.
  • Work on multiple concurrent projects varying in size. Combination of NPI and sustainment projects including continuous improvement.
  • Creation and development of technical documentation including compliance, verification & validation acceptance for new and existing projects.
  • Liaise with project teams to ensure products are suitable for design, manufacture and test.
  • Work with internal teams to identify and alleviate potential bottlenecks 
  • Create detail drawings for tooling, jigs/fixtures.
  • Create and maintain bill of materials (BoM) of designs and tooling.
  • Develop and maintain test leads/harnessing, test equipment to support new build and sustainment of existing production processes.
  • Produce and maintain accurate manufacturing routings to allow efficient shop floor planning.
  • Involvement in continuous improvement projects

 

Product Engineer Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree educated or equivalent in relevant subjects which could include Engineering, Electronics, Physics, or Similar
  • 3 years work experience in a hands on electromechanical manufacturing environment
  • 2D and 3D CAD experience, technical drawings and schematic creation
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacture (DfM) and Design for Assembly (DfA)
  • DFMEA, PFMEA Lean tools/principles experience
  • Knowledge of a wide range of manufacturing processes - mechanical and electrical
  • Working knowledge of modern manufacturing methods including Lean processes.
  • Strong communicator comfortable liaising with multidisciplinary functions
