Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Electrical Systems

£45,000 - £60,000

Hybrid Working – Must be able to commute to Berkshire 1 or 2 days a week

The Role: 

You will take charge of defining, developing and implementing the strategy for all vehicle products with a focus on electrical systems (hardware, software or propulsion), working hands-on to architect the solution, and to work with outsource partners and suppliers to deliver robust, safe and flexible manufacturing solutions and systems from initial concept though to series production and beyond. The scope of this will include full ownership from concept to end of production life of the manufacturing area you are responsible for.

Within Manufacturing Engineering, my client  are now looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer Electrical, who will lead the cross technical product and production manufacturing work. You will represent Manufacturing during the preparation and implementing phase within the area, with global strategic responsibility. It is also within your role to ensure product and process feedback to Research & Development (R&D) in order to fulfil the manufacturing attributes: quality, man hours, cost efficiency, environment, change over and flexibility.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility to define, drive and follow-up all the requirements and manufacturing attributes including manufacturing related costs
  • Owner of assembly sequence and method over time by developing, defining and preparing each system
  • Lead, follow-up and approve new and changed solutions in the production system
  • Responsible for verification of assembly solutions, both virtual and physical
  • Continuously strive for commonality within our production plants
  • Quality secure and optimise the process within your area in our factories
  • Create and upgrade production/assembly instruction
  • Give input/feedback of ME requirement to R&D
  • Work collaboratively with contract manufacturing partners
  • Upon request support R&D when competence is needed

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years+ automotive engineering experience in the field of manufacturing engineering
  • University degree in a relevant engineering topic
  • Good understanding of requirements, specification and verification/validation methods
  • Strong practical experience in medium volume production processes
  • Good knowledge of production methods and tools for assembly, and experience from electric vehicle assembly
  • Geometrical knowledge
  • Knowledge within virtual development tools and experience in using 3DX, Catia V6 and Delmia is meritorious
  • Experience from the FMEA and DFA methods is meritorious
  • Skills in Product Development, preferably in automotive industry will be an asset
  • Knowledge about 6 Sigma and Lean Production is meritorious
  • Strong communication skills and Fluent in English

Candidate who are currently a Manufacturing Engineer, Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, Project Manager, Project Engineer, Powertrain Engineer or Lead Engineer may be suitable for this position
