Position - Maintenance Engineer

Shift Pattern - 3 shift pattern (06:00 – 14:00 / 14:00 – 22:00 / 22:00 – 06:00)

Location – Gloucestershire

Position Overview

  • We are recruiting experienced Maintenance Engineers to join a leading global manufacturer in the automotive industry with a high level of quality, excellent benefits package, and opportunities to progress within the department.

  • This is an ideal opportunity for a self-motivated Maintenance Engineer to join a team responsible for carrying out electrical and mechanical breakdown repair coverage for all manufacturing plant and Assembly & Test Area’s, carrying out planned preventive maintenance in line with pre-determined schedules and to assist with training Operators and Craft (where necessary).

  • May also undertake more complex and detailed project work when machine rebuilds, or refurbishments are required.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Respond to machine breakdowns and Assembly and Test area breakdowns with a view to minimising downtime and improving long term machine reliability.

  • Execution of the Maintenance Managers’ / Senior Maintenance Engineers’ plan to work preventatively in addition to reactively.

  • Use of appropriate root cause analysis tools 5 WHY & MBR.

  • Actively support a culture of Continuous Improvement, looking at ways to engineer out persistent problems.

  • Be cost conscious - achieving savings where possible.

  • Carry out routine Planned Preventative Maintenance.

  • Accurately record all maintenance tasks performed on an electronic reporting system (CMMS).

  • Train Operators and Craft in performing First Line and Planned Maintenance Activities as and when required.

  • Communicate and liaise effectively with other Product Lines and fellow Maintenance Engineers to ensure continuity of information between shifts.

  • Liaise with machine tool suppliers/representatives for the purchase of machine tool spares and

  • resolution of problems requiring 3rd party support.

  • Be responsible for training apprentices.

Skills/Experience

  • Be conversant with Electricity at Work Regulations, COSHH and Safety at Work Regulations.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience of working in a machine tool, assembly or test production

  • environment.

  • Experience with Assembly and Test Equipment.

  • Experience with high accuracy automated grinding, turning, milling CNC machines.

  • Strong fault-finding skills.

  • Ability to read Pneumatic, Electrical & Hydraulic Schematics.

  • Multi-skilled with practical experience in CNC/PLC fault finding and repair. Complete

  • understanding and experience of mechanical and electrical disciplines (40/60 split).

  • Siemens S7 Power Line 840D/Solution Line PLC and CNC control experience.

  • Automation & Robotics experience.

  • A proven record of being pro-active, self-motivated and flexible when working in a pressurised

  • environment.

  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate well at all levels

  • Flexible team-worker - ability to work alone and as part of a team.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desirable

  • Fanuc PLC & CNC control experience.

  • Allen-Bradley PLC experience.

  • Experience with conventional and ultrasonic wash processes.

Qualifications/Educational/Experience

  • A recognised engineering apprenticeship.

  • HNC qualified, or equivalent experience
