Location: Solihull

Type of role: 12 months fixed term contract (maternity cover)

Salary: £30000 to £35000

Working hours: 37.5 Monday to Friday


My client is now seeing to recruit a buyer to managing spend covering category and cost transformation. The appropriate candidate will report to the Head of Procurement this is a strategic sourcing role, the role holder will be responsible for the provision of a leading procurement service that delivers competitive advantage to the business


Support of assigned procurement category, aligned to PM which entails:

Agreeing approach on buying in the category across the business.

Stakeholder engagement plan covering all users who spend in the category.

Category strategy in place and agreed with stakeholders covering sourcing plans, category governance and risks.

Demand management and regular benchmarking of global market data and competitor analysis.

Plan in place to address tail of suppliers (where appropriate) and adherence to approved supplier list.

Knowledge of key supplier’s i.e. supply base & the risks in the category.

Agreed approach on buying outside of or within the relevant categories and understanding the category plans appropriate and linking back to the relevant category.

Stakeholder engagement plan for the requirements, covering other users as appropriate and linking back to the relevant category

Procurement strategy in place and agreed with stakeholders covering sourcing plans, governance, in-life management and risks

Spend management and relationship with main influencers of spend in the business

Purchasing categories FM, Travel and recruitment


Previous procurement experience, ideally in a fleet or automotive related background

CIPS or equivalent qualification in Procurement & Supply chain desirable (or studying towards).

Interpersonal and people management skills

Ethical Trading Practice

Past experience of working with modern sourcing tools like e-Auctions, e-Negotiations, ERP etc.

Knowledge of market and underpinning procurement requirements

Knowledge of key suppliers in global supply base, category plans, the risks and benchmarks

The successful candidate will be subject to enhanced DBS Checks
