The client is a world leader in the Material Movement/Pooling Equipment industry and they have a Wash Plant which cleans pooling equipment from the Automotive industry. The company has a Zero Harm Policy and is the No.1 priority within their organisation. The role of Health & Safety Plant Lead in our Service Centre plays a key role in achieving this across our Plant network. Your role is to manage and facilitate all Health, Safety and Wellbeing activities across the Service Centre as a senior member of the Plant Leadership team. This is a hands-on role and requires a candidate who enjoys interfacing on the shopfloor and can demonstrate the ability to challenge, influence and engage all levels of the organisation.

Duties

  • Provide an environment where work-related health and safety risks are controlled to prevent injuries and occupational ill health.
  • Comply with all legal and other applicable occupational health & safety requirements including internal processes such as:
    • Company  OSH&E Systems
    • Gap Audits & Action Plans
    • Management Observation Tours & Behaviour Observation System.
    • iCare system, update and monitor quality timely data
  • Lead and develop our Safety Differently philosophy across the whole site through HOP and Learning Teams.
  • Ensure all employees, at every level of the organisation understand and are committed to implementing the company’s Zero Harm policies and practices.
  • Lead and monitor continuous improvement via systemic change based on data and root cause analysis of incidents, near misses and environmental occurrences
  • Lead and promote Zero Harm discussions across the plant, ensuring the participation of employees and the Plant Leadership team through monthly Zero harm meetings and participation in the regular Plant Leadership meetings.
  • Develop employee occupational health & safety competencies through effective training across all levels of the plant. Measure and monitor competency levels by the introduction of a skills matrix and pro-active training plans.
  • Lead and facilitate all root cause investigations on all incidents and serious near miss reports to prevent recurrence. Learn from these investigations and share good practice across the European/Global Plant network.
  • Keep up to date with all internal and external health, safety & wellbeing legislation. Advise the Plant Leadership team of any changes to health & safety standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in our Zero Harm practices within the plant and across the network through good practice sharing.
  • Lead our employee wellbeing initiatives across the site including, safety week, occupational health assessments and other employee wellbeing initiatives.
  • Develop employee health & safety competencies through effective training across all levels of the plant. Measure and monitor competency levels by the introduction of a skills matrix and pro-active training plans.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH General Certificate; Tech degree, Safety level 1, Environmental level B, Environmental qualification
  • CPD Certification
