Gas Design Engineer

My client is a fast-growing, multi utility provider with a national footprint. They carry out the turnkey provision of multiutility infrastructure and subsequent connections to residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

They are currently looking for a Gas Design Engineer to join our growing Design & Planning Department at our Office in Warrington. The successful candidate may join the team at Junior, Intermediate or Engineer level depending on their existing knowledge and experience level.

About the role:

The main purpose of the Gas Design Engineer’s role is to undertake design and planning of projects associated with the construction and installation of new gas connections/diversions for LP/MP/IP. Key responsibilities and duties of the role:

  • To design Contestable Connection schemes in accordance with Engineering directives
  • Produce effective plans and schematic drawings for all aspects of the project
  • Escalate any major or commercial issues experienced in the team to the Gas Design Manager
  • Design gas connections to engineering standards, including GDN/IGT and IGEM standards
  • Carry out site visits to ascertain detailed information related to the design and planning of projects
  • Manage own portfolio of design work, on time and within budget
  • Ensure design compliance with CDM
  • Liaise with and support the UKPS team on technical and planning matters to ensure smooth project delivery

Ideal Qualifications / Experience

  • Previous experience in the utility sector in a similar role
  • C&G Gas Network Design (5831-80) or NVQ GIRS Design Complex preferred
  • Incorporate Engineer status with IGEM or desire to work towards this
  • A degree in Engineering or similar discipline
  • A sound understanding of gas distribution networks
  • Previous experience of connec8ons design is a distinct advantage
  • Solid organisational awareness and ability
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, with good communica8on skills and a collaborative ethic
