Our client are an international engineering company specialising in the manufacture, installation and servicing of a range of automated material handling systems. The ideal candidate for this role will have extensive experience managing a range of projects across the UK and worldwide.  

Role Brief – Engineering Manager

Technical accountability for the for day to day running of the Engineering Departments. Assuring and validating Project engineering across all projects. Ensuring Mechanical, Electrical and Integration project works are executed. Ensuring allocated budgets and timescales are met for all project tasks.

Responsibilities – Engineering Manager

• Leadership of Project Engineering teams

• Oversight of design reviews for all projects

• Workload management of Project Engineering disciplines.

• Driving, team Leads in staff development across the Project Engineering disciplines

• Accurately forecasting resource requirements across the Project engineering disciplines

• Ensuring Project Engineering teams collate of all information for design work including resource, estimates, phasing plans, schedules, offer specification, client briefs, user requirement specs, drawings, existing system performance data, information from relevant previous works and regional applicable standards;

• Ensuring teams execute Preparation/completion/production of validation review forms, project specific PMDR, installation verification specifications with relevant EIVs.

• Ensuring all Projects are engineered to the as sold work breakdown structure.

• Ensuring Project teams hold formal design reviews in line with Technical Manual

• Regular liaison with Project Manager and Regional Project Director.

• Timely/accurate management of engineering requirements/tracking.

• Compliance with departmental procedures.

• Value engineer/assess functionality of solutions.

Experience/Qualifications – Engineering Manager

• Technical degree desirable (BSc or BEng or similar);

• Proven leadership capability of a control systems / automation team

• High level engineering skills to cover all systems Mechanical Electrical, PLC, Control systems expertise, ideally using the Siemens PLC platform applied to Baggage Handling applications

• Ability to interpret and troubleshoot designs

• Excellent planning and organisation skills

• Good communicator (verbal and written) and ability to influence at all levels of the organisation

• Results-focused with experience of managing to agreed measures of performance and to tight deadlines.
