Role – Engineering Manager

Location – Newport

Salary - £45,000 - £46,000

I am currently looking to recruit an experienced Engineering Manager to effectively run the engineering department, ensuring that applications are developed in line with customer requirements as well as supporting the production process in all areas required to maximise productivity.

Main responsibilities:

  • To oversee the day to day running off the Engineering Department. Including organising and distribute work accordingly.

  • To be able to prioritise and schedule workloads accordingly to support production / customer requirements.

  • To coordinate with the General manager in identifying training needs and organising the relevant training.

  • In conjunction with the General manager be responsible for Setting and maintaining departmental objectives / KPI’S

  • To accept responsibility for the process development of new applications and production parts. (This will involve working closely with customers and sales team from enquiry stage through to production, to delivery of components).

  • Expertise in robotic programming and an in-depth coating knowledge.

  • Identify & implement productivity cost savings using a LEAN approach.

  • Ensure that all process documentation is clear accurate and up to date and all supporting documents i.e. specifications / drawings are maintained and registered.

  • Be competent in the key aspects of the Application Engineers role.

  • Work with the sales team to produce costings for customer applications.

  • Aid the quality representative in managing NC/CAR’S to ensure robust actions are in place for application issues.

  • To enable the company to meet its own legal duties and to report any hazardous situations or defective equipment.

Experience and skills:

  • Experience within the Thermal Spray sector would be advantageous.

  • Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) to Degree level.

  • Management and practical experience in an engineering or materials based industry and the capability to rapidly gain the requisite industry knowledge.

  • Experience in Lean – productivity improvements will be a key aspect of the role.

  • Good understanding of QMS system, knowledge of aerospace quality systems AS9100 and NADCAP would be an advantage.

  • The ability to interpret complex data, technical drawings and customer specifications.

  • Strong Leadership skills complemented by excellent communication skills

Salary / package:

  • Pension - match contribution from 4% - 10%
